Throughout the series, there have been multiple strong leading ladies and supporting characters. After watching all of the movies, I have developed a list of my favorite women in the series.
1. Marcie Cunningham
Played by Jeannine Taylor, her character in the first Friday the 13th movie was not only stunning, but witty and enjoyable to watch on the big screen. I read somewhere that when they were casting for the movie, Jeannine was straight out of acting school, which I found hard to believe, because she seemed so natural. This and part 6, Jason Lives, were the only two movies in the series where the supporting cast were just as enjoyable as the lead. Jeanine's outgoing character made this movie almost seem like it wasn't supposed to be a slasher film. Before her death, she was still being that goofy kid, and when she died it seemed like the mood of the film suddenly became darker.
2. Trish Jarvis
Portrayed by Kimberly Beck in the fourth movie of the series, was the final girl in the Final Chapter. She lived in a very secluded cabin in the woods with her mother, little brother Tommy, and their trusty dog Gordon. When some vacationers settle in next door, Jason Voorhees comes from the shadows to seek revenge on yet another group of kids. Throughout the movie, Trish proved to be a loving daughter and sister, with a good head on her shoulders, and obviously good survival skills.
3. Megan Garris
Portrayed by Jennifer Cooke, she's that spunky, cool girl in the movie, who of course falls for the bad boy. In this case, Tommy is more weird than bad, but who can blame him right? She defies her father, the Sheriff, multiple times to be with Tommy, which makes Sheriff Garris hate Tommy more. Megan and her friends are counselors and Camp Forest Green, a.k.a. Camp Crystal Lake (like changing the name would really change the game). Eventually, Tommy and Megan team up to fight the bad guy, and save the children. Her charm and wit don't even begin to define her character, not to mention Jennifer Cooke played the part beautifully.
4. Ginny Fields
Portrayed by Amy Steele, is possibly the most well known actress from the series, besides Betsy Palmer and Adrienne King from the first movie. I mean, how could you not like her character? She is smart, kind, helpful, witty, and very sensible. Her background in child psychology (in other words her education) literally saves her life. And although everybody else was skeptical, mainly her boyfriend Paul, she still believed that Jason was out there-and she was right, HA!
5. Alice Hardy
Portrayed by Adrienne King, was the first Final Girl in the series. Her character was one of the best leads in the entire series, and while this list is in particular order, she tops it no doubt. Her character growth is incredible from start to finish, because if you remember the ending battle between her and Mrs. Voorhees, you were probably just as shocked as I was that she would go to such a length to defend herself. Though it seemed like all was well, the only thing Alice really did was bring to life the crazed killer in the next movie, and so on.
6. Rennie Wickham
Portrayed by Jensen Dagget was the quiet classmate with a broken past, who was under the care of her uncle, who also happened to be the principal of the high school she attended. I think what I like most about her character is that she seems to share a psychological connection with Jason. For example, both of them had a troubled childhood, because Jason died in the water, and Rennie almost died in the water. Not to mention that she saw young Jason in the water, which was pretty creepy.
