Today, Moviepilot goes full Canadian!

On February 18th, I was extremely fortunate to have an interview with Degrassi star and extremely nice guy: Munro Chambers, about his new movie Turbo Kid!

Turbo Kid is an action, adventure, horror, sci-fi and 80s' based film that premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It stars Munro Chambers, Michael Ironside, Laurence Labeouf and many other outstanding actors all playing unique and elaborate roles.

The plot of this bizarre, but absolutely spectacular, film is as follows:

In a post-apocalyptic future, THE KID, a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named APPLE. Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, ZEUS, the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, plagues THE KID and APPLE. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, THE KID learns of justice and friendship and embarks on an incredible journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.

If that plot isn't getting you excited, here is some extra help to get you craving Turbo Kid!

Freaking sweet, right?

Anyways, like I said, I was fortunate enough to have an interview with The Kid (Munro Chambers) and I asked him some questions about the film, the comic book world and the future.

"How was Turbo Kid different from anything you have ever done?"

This one was so interesting for me because it was a genre film with lots of blood, guts, gore and all these crazy action sequences and I've never done anything like it and that was very intriguing for me. I just think it was so interesting because it was that genre film, but underneath that, it had a charming love story and a story about this coming to age kid who is trying to be a man. And with those it made it very intriguing.

"What was it like to work with all that blood and 80s' style gore?"

Well, it's sticky. [Laughs] Sticky and cold because we filmed in March in Montreal and it was freezing, but it was incredible to see the blood guys work and make all that happen.

"What are your top five comic book characters?"

It would probably be...Nightcrawler, The Joker, Iron Man, Hulk, Nightwing...Sabretooth I really like him too even though that makes six. I kind of connected more with villains more than actual superheroes like, Captain America and Superman. I kind of liked those heroes who were more on edge like the Nightcrawler.

I couldn't help but notice that he picked Nightwing over the universally beloved Batman, which was shocking to me and is probably shocking to many fans.

I mean I like Batman, but Nightwing was such a cool character because he was Robin, then he became Nightwing and ended up doing his own thing which is really cool and made for an interesting story.

I then asked a question which I believe really threw him off his horse: "Would you like to play Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?"

[Laughs] Um....I don't...maybe? [Laughs] I don't know if I'm the right fit for him, but I would love the opportunity. I don't care because for superheroes, I just wanted to be one when I was growing up while watching the cartoons I just wanted to be any, but Spider-man would be pretty cool.

I can't be the only one who thinks he could fit the role of Spider-man. At least by his appearance and age, I think he could really bring the character some justice!

"What's next for Mr. Chambers?"

I really can't say what is coming up, but I'm really just enjoying what Turbo Kid is doing. To get into the Sundance was an incredible surprise and just awesome, but for now we're seeing where that goes.

I finished by telling him what a great guy he was and what a great job he did in the film. He returned the compliment by giving me some nice words as well which really showed how kind he was!

Munro was an extremely nice guy and made the interview a lot of fun which was just fantastic! I would like to personally thank Moviepilot for giving me this huge opportunity and for taking me out of my comfort zone because I'm totally not used to interviews and writing interview posts, but it was an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to hopefully doing some more!

But, I shouldn't be the only one hoping to do more of that! You should be too! And the only way of doing that is...becoming a creator!

Thank you all for reading and thanks again to Moviepilot for this wonderful experience!
