If you haven't yet heard that they are continuing the Jurassic Park franchise where have you been! Jurassic World is set to be one of 2015's biggest blockbusters and it is fair to say that the film has one of the best movie themed websites to help publicize the film. JurassicWorld.com is full of huge details about the park. I've been exploring it so much that I started to believe that it was a real park, I was even going to BUY tickets.
So here are the 10 most coolest things featured on the website:
11. The Jurassic World IMAX Theatre
Okay so really this is just a point on the park map (which I will get to latter) but how cool is it to know that [Jurassic World](movie:32752) has it's very own IMAX Theatre. Little details shown on the website tell us that it seats 890 people and its screen size is 30m x 42m. I think that this could make an awesome scene, imagine watching a movie on the screen and feeling the breath of a creature behind you, when you turn around you see dinosaur which has escaped from its enclosure! If that's not a scene in the film, I'll be disappointed.
10. Hilton Isla Nublar Resort
As the park is now a fully operational theme park, it only makes sense to have a hotel for people to stay. The hotel is deck out with 5,000 rooms, spa, fitness center, kids club, restaurant and room service, tennis courts and golf course. The website shows a family friendly environment with a hint of luxury. Package deals are available, according to the website, so that you can enjoy a stress free trip at Jurassic World.
Featured on every website is information on the people footing the bill, usually at the bottom of the page. But on the Jurassic World site, there are links to a whole other site called Masrani Global. And that site on its own is just a whole other bevy of information on the creation of the park and more. There are multiple photos of actor Irrfan Khan, who plays Masrani himself, and that suggests the corporation will play a major role in the film. It provides background information for the film on how it came to be. The site is www.masraniglobal.com.
8. Jurassic World Dining - Winston’s Steakhouse
This is too cool not to point out! It makes sense for the website designers to create a restaurant for the site but they go above and beyond by creating an entire menu. You can download the menu here. The restaurant is very expensive, for those who love to splash their cash.
7. Safety First
This section is probably the funniest part of the site. Emergency protocols, electric fences and feeding the dinosaurs are all summed up in this section of the site. All things that will almost certainly go horribly wrong in the film.
6. The Rides
It seems like the Gyrosphere is both the coolest, and most important, of the movie. The website talks about it a lot, showing photos of the lines, and rules on how it works. The sphere has a top speed of 5 miles per hour and all the animals on the ride – 30 total – are herbivores.
If the Gyrosphere is the biggest ride at Jurassic World, the Cretaceous Cruise is the most intense. The website reports riding it burns 500 calories and you see 100 different species of dinosaurs as you paddle down the river. It aims to provide a true prehistoric experience and from the photos, it looks like you can get up and close to the extraordinary animals.
5. The Raptor Pass
The Raptor Pass is where you can see things before everyone else does. Get all of the news from the film and from the park. You can sign up here.
4. Park Map
The Jurassic World park map is absolutely amazing! You can look at the island, see where everything is located, toggle icons on and off, and then read more about each of those features on the island. It doesn’t seem to be complete yet cause lots of the dinosaurs are missing, but they do have lots and lots of cool features such as a write up on the Tyrannosaurus Rex Kingdom. The full map is here and deserves is own full article itself.
3. Plan Your Trip
The Jurassic World website offers a whole bevy of options to plan your hypothetical trip to the island. It gives you hotel options, travel options, dining options, shopping options, nightlife options, all of which feature photos of people who are most likely not in the film. There’s info on a golf course, gondolas, helicopter rides, you name it. Most of those stuff will probably not play into the film, or just be seen in the background, but it’s essential information for anyone who would travel to Jurassic World.
2. Site Wide Park Info
On every page you visit, a drop down menu will appear which is full of information you'd want to know if you were visiting the park. The weather, the capacity, how long line waits are, what’s the next big event happening, etc, are all featured on the menu which allows for quick navigation through the site. It is all very informative plus it turns off when the park is closed!
1. Security Footage
By far the coolest thing on the website is the security database which is found in the 'Park Cam' section of the site. It allows you to get a glimpse of daily life in the park. You can check out whats happening around the park, Is the line for a certain ride full? Will I be able to get a seat at Winston's? Is the T-Rex on show today? All of that can be seen in "Live" streaming videos from throughout the park.
Despite all that I have pointed out today there is still plenty more to be discovered at the website. There is obviously so much more to come after the release of the film this June so we haven't even reached the top of the mountain. Be sure to sign up for the raptor pass if you are a massive fan of the film and want to receive exclusive images/videos!
