Actress Michelle Gomez will be returning for [Doctor Who](series:200668) Series 9 as her epically evil character Missy. She kicked off the role in Series 8, but will be propelled into a bigger one, making things difficult for The Doctor and Clara in the very first episode of Series 9.

In Series 8, she remained more-so in the background, working on her secret plan, before it reared its head in the two-part series finale, "Dark Water" / "Death in Heaven". Of course, Missy was revealed to be the latest regeneration of the Doctor's old friend and nemesis, the Master.

Yes, yes, Missy... indeed you are. Gomez was quoted saying:

"Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my Lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see the Doctor again!"

Steven Moffat, the executive producer on the show, had something to say about the return of Gomez too:

“Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

Hmm... intriguing. It will be interesting to see how they write her back into the story. I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Meanwhile, Jemma Redgrave will also return as Kate Stewart, the Chief Scientific Officer of UNIT and the Brigadier's daughter.

'Doctor Who Series 9' will premiere in 2015.
