After the first Avengers came out back in 2012, we finally found the right person to pull off the tormented Bruce Banner. But is it enough to warrant his own movie in the Marvel Universe?
While Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of the green superhero is undoubtedly one of the best we've seen of The Hulk, the likelihood of seeing him on his own are very slim, according to Cinema Blend.
One main reason we might never get another Hulk film is simply the fact that most people would rather see a film with scenes mainly of the Hulk doing his thing, which is get mad and destroy everything in sight. Not many are as interested in seeing Bruce Banner and his attempts to control the monster within.
Ruffalo himself has even commented on the difficulties of a solo Hulk film,
[A new feature-length Hulk movie is] a tough nut to crack. Traditionally you’re watching a guy who doesn’t want to do the very thing that you want him to do. It’s hard to take for two hours. I don’t know how many times you can use that same framing for it, but now he’s maturing and there’s a cool dynamic growing between Banner and The Hulk.
While what he said has been true for the past Hulk movies, I think that Marvel could come up with a premise for a solo Hulk that would actually be pretty decent. Unlike the 2 predecessors before, Marvel actually found someone who added depth and humor to the character that hadn't been seen before. But for now, we just have to settle for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), and other subsequent cameos Bruce/The Hulk might make in other Marvel films. And who knows, maybe after this next Avengers film we might just get a chance to see The Hulk on his own.
