So I watched The Exorcist when I was 10 (as a dare from my cousin) and it's fair to say I near enough had an accident (bodily fluid wise) because of how scary I thought it was. It was 36 years old at the time and I think it has remained if not THE scariest film of all time, one of the scariest of all time because of the way William Friedkin portrays the devil in a 12 year old girl. It scared me because it was creepy and I initially didn't like the creepy face on Linda Blair's character - Regan MacNeil - and the 360 degree head turn that she does just creeped me out entirely. I also love my mum and would never treat my mum in the way a possessed Regan did which also scared me for some strange reasons. However the most strange aspect of the film at the time for me was the scene where she masturbates with a crucifix, as at the age of 10, I had no idea what she was doing and what was going on.

So what do you think? Is The Exorcist still an exciting film for horror lovers or is it just boring now?
