5 Characters Fox Still Needs to Cast for X-MEN: Apocalypse
Fox has been busy in the last month or so casting for this epic adventure set to debut on May 27, 2016. X-Men: Apocalypse will feature former cast members James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Rose Byrne as Moira Mactaggert, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and possibly Ian McKellan could be returning as the future version of Magneto once again.
New additions to the X-Universe have also been cast, some are bringing a younger version on characters we have already seen in their adult versions. Those characters are Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.
Also, the most recently announced, Kodi Smit-Mcphee as Nightcrawler.
We will also get a new Gambit played by Channing Tatum & the movie title mega-villan Apocalypse played by Oscar Isaac.
So, the cast is getting larger and larger, except there are a few individuals however, I am very surprised we have not seen get cast or reprise their former roles. I seriously hope that Fox and Bryan Singer have considered some of these X-Men characters I am about to list. They would be pivotal to the movie and bring a mass story-arc to build for future X-Movies to come, since Fox isn't letting them go.
So here it goes, the top 5 X-Characters that need to be in [X-Men: Apocalypse](movie:1194267):
Yes, Victor Creed himself. I seriously think that if they want to give a new background to Wolverine we need Sabretooth. We left X-Men: DoFP with Mystique hijacking Logan for whatever reason (we have no clue, even though that scene made the movie for me). We all probably agree that Creed hasn't had a lot of glory on the big screen. In 2000's X-Men we got a Kevin Nash wanna-be with a blonde wig and cheesy contacts. Even though I went crazy when I saw Sabretooth and Wolverine fight on the Statue of Liberty, it was really just the "Holy crap the X-Men are in a live-action movie!" awe. Then in 2008 we got Liev Schreiber, I seriously loved his performance, however the character never got the proper fullness it deserved. I believe Schreiber can pull sadistic and homicidal off, so I would love to see him reprise his roll, he's the only thing you can salvage from that mockery of a Wolverine film.
I'm sure most of you are cussing your smartphone or laptop out right now. Im sorry, but Liev's version with the right directorial guidance could just steal the show.
Okay, so... How would Victor fit it?
That's easy, X-Men: Days of Future Past only altered the timeline from 1973 forward. Logan and Victor's origins still remain intact, so when Logan woke up in the future and all and then split out on what he was involved in at that moment. Then Logan showed up on TV, I'm sure Victor was like, "What the hell, Jimmy?!" and started to track him down. Eventually Victor tracks him to Mystique and so forth. Victor has to show up or we will all be like, "So Sabretooth forgot about Logan after 1973? Oh, okay, cool." We all know that that will waste the character.
Azazel seriously should be brought back on, I know he was "killed" off in X-Men: Days of Future Past. But, in the comics he is the father of Nightcrawler and Mystique is Nightcrawler's mother. If they want to create a good backstory for Mystique and Nightcrawler, then they need to include Azazel. Jason Flemyng portrayed the mutant verison of Azazel in X-Men: First Class, starting off as Sebastian Shaw's lackey and then teaming up with Magneto and Mystique at the end, then his autopsy is shown in X-Men: Days of Future Past when Mystique is going through Trask's files (was it just me, or did the picture of Azazel make Mystique really put on the waterworks, maybe that was an easter egg?).
So how does this dead mutant show up in X-Men: Apocalypse?
In flashbacks mostly. Hopefully Flemyng would reprise this role and come back for flashbacks of a short and sweet romance between Azazel and Mystique which would result in Nightcrawler. So Mystique could have gotten pregnant and dumped her baby with foster parents in-between First Class & Days of Future Past since there is an 11 year gap. X-Men: Apocalypse takes place in 1983, and actor Kodi Smit-Mcphee is 19 years old. Smit-Mcphee looks to be younger than 19 so if you set Nightcrawler's age for 17, he would have been born in 1966 which took place in-between the other two films. I think if they brought Azazel back from the dead and not just for a flashback sequence, the movie would be too crowded at that point with people just put in for a backstory and wouldn't have room for other characters higher on the ladder of this list.
Alison Blaire also known as the Dazzler is a mutant with the ability to absorb sound and transform it into light. Dazzler was originally conceived as a disco singer. She was created by a committee of Marvel's staff, including writer/editor Tom DeFalco and illustrator John Romita, Jr. The Dazzler first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #103.
She was a more familiar character in the late '70s and '80s in the comic world and has found herself as one of the more popular female X-men of all time, even being showcased in arcade games and in the very first X-Men cartoon pilot called Pryde of the X-Men. Here it is below if you want a comical break from my rantings:
Nightcrawler has a thong on, and Wolverine is an Aussie (no offense, Hugh Jackman).
So how would you incorporate Dazzler?
Dazzler would be a popular artist of the current day and time, Apocalypse easily seeks her out to become a Horsemen. He kidnaps her and makes her one of his slaves, she is then saved by the X-Men and joins them as they form their first real "big team." Dazzler would have to be in her mid-to-late twenties and would be a good love interest for Gambit. I think that she should be played by singer-songwriter Iggy Azalea or Ashley Tisdale.
2. Mr. Sinister
Nathaniel Essex is as much as an ancient mutant as Apocalypse. It would be great to see this character come to life for the movie, setting up more movies to come with Sinister lurking in the shadows. His comic history is tied to Apocalypse pretty heavy. If I am not mistaken, Mr. Sinister was evolved by Apocalypse and became an ally of sorts. It's essential, I believe, that they bring him into the 2016 movie because he can introduce Apocalypse, he can usher him to the table and it just won't be Apocalypse showing up and stomping on people and laughing.
How would they introduce this character:
Essex was Charles Xavier's Professor at Oxford who helped him in his studies of homo-superior. Essex, however, has existed since the 19th century because of Apocalypse, a weakened Apocalypse approached him then offering him his evolutionary status and immortality in return for helping protect Apocalypse's Lazarus chamber and preserving his arsenal for his returns throughout history. However, When Essex is contacted by Xavier over young mutant Scott Summer's uncontrollable abilities he discovers in his blood that he has powerful mutant DNA along with his counterpart Jean Grey (which could ultimately lead to Cable).
The primary role of Sinister in the movie would be having a strong traitor figure to Charles and a kidnapper of mutants like Dazzler (see #3) for the Horsemen experiments.
I think Actor Jason Isaacs could pull this off well.
Look this is real simple. Lucas Till has reprised his role for 2 films, X-Men: First Class & [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](movie:203942). Even though he really only had a limited appearance in Days of Future Past, it was epic. He portrayed that bad-ass Summers personality when he confronted Raven. Im not real sure why they haven't cast him yet and honestly because of that I wrote this article.
Lucas Till, I thought did a good job with his take on the character and id like to see him take it farther. Especially since Scott Summers (Cyclops) his brother is debuting in this film, obviously Fox took after the Ultimate version of Havok being the older brother instead of Scott. I think this will bring a lot of story not just to Havok, but to Cyclops origin with the X-Men especially if Alex ends up a horseman.
If they do not bring back Till, at least recast the character. We need Havok for this film as fans and I hope that they incorporate him.
So, here's how...
Havok returning home from Vietnam, returns to the Xavier School for its reopening. Havok then becomes on of the main staff members being the danger-room instructor and forming a lasting friendship with Beast. Havok goes with Xavier to meet Scott and then to reunite and begin to create a healthy sibling relationship. The pair begins to question their parents and origins (save it for another movie, like X-Men: Starjammers). However, Havok sacrifices himself to save Scott and Xavier from Mr. Sinister and is abducted and made into a horseman.
