I am writing this article because it is Oscar weekend and i have noticed many times that no comic movie has ever even been nominated in the best Adapted Screenplay category where they really should be. Why well every Comic movie is adapted from source material, V for Vendetta is as much adapted from source material as Capote, Brokeback Mountain, Munich, The Constant Gardener, or A History of Violence( the movies nominated in that category that year) and in my opinion deserves as much right as any of those titles to be in there as it was a fantastic movie. So here it is my vision of what the Oscars would have looked like had that category included comic book movies that deserved to be there (Because we all know not every comic movie deserves to be there, I'm looking at you Daredevil, Spider-man 3, and X-Men the last Stand)

1978

  • Midnight Express
  • Bloodbrothers
  • California Suite
  • Heaven can Wait
  • Same time next year
  • Superman

I will admit I have not seen any of the movies on this list for this year but Superman was an amazing story and as far as I am concerned introduced an entire generation and on to Comic adapted movies and paved the way for the entire comic to movie industry by showing that a movie based on a comic could actually be successful in the box office.

1990

  • Dances With Wolves
  • Awakenings
  • Goodfellas
  • The Grifters
  • Reversal of Fortune
  • Dick Tracy

Although Dances With Wolves won for this year my pick would have been Goodfellas.

1991

  • Silence of the Lambs
  • Europa Europa
  • Fried Green tomatoes
  • JFK
  • Prince Of Tides
  • The Rocketeer

Silence of the Lambs is the clear winner and definitely deserved the award although I did love JFK.

1994

  • Forrest Gump
  • The Madness of King George
  • Nobody's Fool
  • Quiz Show
  • The Shawshank Redemption
  • The Crow

There is no way it would have stood a chance up against competition like this year my opinion would have been Shawshank even though Forrest Gump was fantastic, but in my opinion The Crow had just as much right to be there.

2002

  • The Pianist
  • About a Boy
  • Adaptation
  • Chicago
  • The Hours
  • Road to Perdition

This year the well deserving winner was the Pianist.. but it would have been nice to see road to perdition even nominated especially considering the story and the cast.

2004

  • Sideways
  • Before Sunset
  • Finding Neverland
  • Spider-Man 2
  • Million dollar Baby
  • Motorcycle Diaries

Sideways was an amazing movie, and i am sure Thomas Hayden Church's role in this is part of what paved the way for his role in Spider-Man 3, Finding Neverland in my opinion does not deserve to be on this list it is one of the few movies i have fell asleep to in the theatre while watching.

2005

  • Capote
  • Brokeback Mountain
  • Munich
  • The Constant Gardener
  • A History Of Violence
  • V For Vendetta
  • Batman Begins
  • Sin city

Although Capote won this year i believe that had Batman Begins been considered i could have very easily been the winner. Keep in mind if for this year you would have to remove movies because there were too many nominations you could very easily have taken A History of Violence and The Constant Gardener.

2008

  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • Doubt
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Frost/Nixon
  • The Reader
  • Batman - The Dark Knight

The Dark knight has a unique honor already being the only comic book movie to have an actor win an Oscar for a character portrayal. R.I.P. Heath Ledger (one of only 3 people to win an Oscar posthumously) But i believe that had it been nominated in other categories it could have taken many of them.

2010

  • The Social Network
  • 127 hours
  • Toy Story 3
  • True Grit
  • Winters Bone
  • Kick-Ass

Considering this list Kick-ass could very easily have won it was as good if not better than many of the films that received the honour this year.

2012

  • Argo
  • Beasts of the Southern Wild
  • Life of Pi
  • Lincoln
  • Silver Linings Playbook
  • The Avengers

The Avengers was a Marvel(no pun intended) of movie making Amazing story, Great cast, well acted, huge cast but still able to work, Special effects, There were a ton of categories that the Avengers could have won on for that year.

Which brings us to this year along with many of the titles at are nominated this year I believe that both Captain America -The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy deserve to be on the list.

2014

  • American Sniper
  • The Imitation Game
  • Inherent Vice
  • The Theory of Everything
  • Whiplash
  • Captain America - The Winter Soldier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy

And as much as i love both comic movies that i would like to see nominated i still believe that this years Oscar in this category will got to The Imitation Game.

Honorable Mentions include Art School confidential(2006), American Splendor(2003),The Watchmen(2009), Captain America - The First Avenger(2011), Ghost World(2001),
