Animator Lee Hardcastle has created a "missing scene" from Frozen, and it's unlike anything you've seen before.
Actually, strike that. It's exactly like something you've seen before. You see, Hardcastle overlaid dialogue and sound effects from John Carpenter's The Thing onto stop motion characters from [Frozen](movie:411685).
That's right, this is a combo of one of the most gruesome movies of all time and the universally adored Disney classic. It's not what we wanted, but it's certainly what we needed. Check out the amazing animation and the explosive finale below.
All I can say is "Thank you, Lee." I now know what [Frozen 2](movie:2481986) will look like if Frozen fatigue leads to a genre upheaval. Sorry, kids, parents wanted a more grown-up version this time around.
Here's a breakdown of the scene.
Christoph restrains the team
Someone's infected, and he's determined to find out who.
Anna is his second-in-command, naturally
You can see the fear in her eyes as she considers the possibility of her sister housing the infection.
He tests her blood with copper wire
And it immediately flees from the impact, squirming away.
Elsa lets her humanity go
And metamorphoses into the dangerous creature.
Still restrained, the rest react in terror
But ropes aren't enough to keep the Snow Queen down.

For the sake of comparison (and the sheer brilliance of John Carpenter), here's the scene from The Thing.
Hopefully you weren't eating when reading this post. If so, I take full responsibility for the waste of a perfectly good meal, but aren't you glad you got to see a darker side of Disney?
