Just as 2014 drew to a close, gamers got to delight in the Playstation Experience, where players were lucky enough to get their hands on the likes of Bloodborne and Uncharted 4, check out some trailers for [No Man's Sky](tag:2684052) but also hear news of the existence of God of War 4.

With Microsoft planning Gears of War 4 for the Xbox One, Sony needed to have one of their franchises get that number too in order to stay in the game (not really, but I like to think they fight over such trivial things). Seeing as we won't be getting Resistance 4, God of War was the next likely candidate. Santa Monica's Creative Director Cory Barlog, confirmed the existence of God of War 4 in an interview for the PS4, but what can we expect from the upcoming title?

God of War 4 on The PS4 Without Kratos?

Now, Barlog said that he would have more news on the upcoming title in about a year or two and that the studio was working away in the very early stages of development. We've been assured that it is not in fact a sequel like God of War: Ascension, but will take place after the events of God of War 3. So...does that mean that the PS4 could get a release date for God of War 4 without Kratos as the lead?

Kratos, has obviously been the definitive badass on the playstation system for many, many years. Therefore, do fans of the series believe that God of War 4 should not exist without this god at the helm? Will Santa Monica devise a way to have the murdering madman return, or will we see a whole new protagonist to lead the series on NextGen?

I would love to have some more of those incredibly staged battles that God of War has given, but now on the PS4. With a whole new system to work on, we could see Kratos (or other lead) hack their way through a mountain of enemies and have bosses that we'd never imagined...though I find it hard to think how God of War 3 could be improved upon. The prequel just didn't do it for me.

So what do you think God of War fans? Do you think Santa Monica Studio can bring God of War 4 to the PS4 and have a successful release date without Kratos as a lead? Or would it not be GoW without him? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
