Most people had to go to some form of high school, making it an experience and awkward time period that we all share. There were jocks, nerds, geeks, goths, and people who just wanted to find out who they were.
While [Boyhood](movie:989626) didn't get much love at The Oscars, we can admit that Richard Linklater was pretty on point when it came to painting a really accurate representation of that transgression into that slightly-older-but-still-super-immature period we know as our high school (and for some, our eventual college) lives.
I think that all of the characters from [The Big Bang Theory](series:200751) were probably misfits in high school the same way they are currently in the real world. I mean, everybody knows somebody from their high school that was like Sheldon. In fact, if you don't remember anyone with that nerdy sense of humor and inability to tolerate stupidity, take a look in the mirror - it may be YOU!
So, without further ado, check out the cast in their even more awkward years:
Raj (Kunal Nayyar) then and now
What a handsome teenage Raj! Maybe it's just these two photos juxtaposed next to eachother, but it looks like he was a chipper happy-go-lucky kid. Good stuff.
Sheldon (Jim Parsons) aka the king of the campus
Talk about a combover for the ages. He looks pretty dapper, I can't really lie. I'm sure Sheldon tore it up on the dancefloor at Prom! Look at that smile! It hasn't really even changed, to be honest.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco) before she met the gang
She looked gorgeous then and still does now. I'm sure Kaley (and Penny too!) had a lot of attention from the young men back in high school!
Leonard (Johnny Galecki) had his fair share of swag back in the day
Once again, we have another example of some old-school hair styling. He looks like one of those kids from a high school's brochure of "the type of nice, approachable kid you will meet when you come here" or something. Cute kid.
Howard (Simon Helberg) has by far the most obvious pic
There's no denying that this would have been the easiest guess of anybody from the cast to have the wildest yearbook photo. Not that it's even that bad, it's just so Howie...
Amy (Mayim Bialik) wins happiest/best smile
If there was a superlative award for "Best Smile", it would easily go to Amy aka Mayim here... she looks so genuinely happy and like she has a funny joke on the tip of her tongue. Awesome.
Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) almost looks the exact same
Bernadette might even compete with Amy for best smile, but I still have to give the nod to Amy. It's so cool to look at these budding stars before they hit it big and see that they were/are just regular folks.
