MTV's Josh Horowitz hounded Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson during this year's Academy Awards, asking him about his upcoming role in DC's eagerly anticipated movie Shazam.

Johnson is set to play super-villain Black Adam, though the movie's release is not currently expected until 2019. However, the Fast and Furious star said:

You know, it may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted. The script is coming in, it's great. The support from the studio has been great. And it is just a great opportunity especially with Black Adam where you can take a guy that starts off as bad guy turns into an anti-hero. We can make him vicious; a little bit of winking charm.

Pretty exciting stuff, huh?

Keen to get more information out of the wrestler-turned-moviestar, Horowitz pressed for details about Warner Bros' casting choice for Shazam/Captain Marvel? But, alas, The Rock said he didn't know.

So perhaps we'll be seeing Shazam sooner than expected, which is great news! Its current release date is April 5, 2019.

What do you guys think? Are you pumped to see Johnson in the DC universe?

When do you predict Shazam will be released?
