It's really incredible. CD Projekt RED have become one of the most renowned developers in the video game industry, with only two titles released and The Witcher 3 yet to receive its release date for the XBOX One , PS4 and PC. Players around the world have commemorated them on their approach to content and story, on their integrity, commitment to quality and great approach to the likes of DLC and other corporate money-grabs.
They're a dream developer, and we're all incredibly excited to see what they can do with The Witcher 3 . But it's beyond the Witcher series that I'm most excited about. While I loved The Witcher 2: Assassin's of King and I'm looking forward to their next big RPG, its Cyberpunk 2077 that I reserve my highest levels of anticipation for. I mean, that trailer!
Cyberpunk 2077 & Deus Ex on Xbox One & PS4
Now, one does not simply throw the name 'Deus Ex' around lightly. We're talking about one of the greatest games ever made for PC here, one that many consider to be the greatest of all time. The title was unparalleled in terms of the world that it created and how freely it allowed the player to make their own choices in these incredible environments. Anything seemed possible in Deus Ex.
So why would I associate it with CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077? Now, when I place these two together I'm not only commenting on the fact that their settings are quite similar. It's blindingly apparent that Deus Ex shares the kind of "cyberpunk" setting that 2077 does, but its design also shows us hints at the kind of gameplay we can expect.
I'm a firm believer that Cyberpunk 2077 could be the PC, PS4 and Xbox One's opportunity to have a game like Deus Ex reappear into out lives. I also feel like Cyberpunk is the long awaited arrival of Blade Runner onto a gaming platform! Which to me is one of the most exciting things I've ever heard.
But what exactly will Cyberpunk 2077 be? Well, according to the limited information we've been given by CD Projekt RED, this will be an action RPG that will take us to the dystopian future of America. And when they say RPG, they mean it!
"So yes, it is an all-out RPG game, but we're looking at having a lot of new gameplay elements that I cannot talk about yet." Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a non-linear plot, one that will allow the player to interact with the environment as they see fit. Upgrades are an essential part of the game as well as the world.
In a society were augmentation is attacked and protested against, the player is a clear example of just how powerful one can become in the modern age. In this city of mixed cultures we'll come across a lot of languages, and one of the upgrades that
has been referenced is that we'll actually have to buy an upgrade to understand certain people, thus opening up new missions and side-quests. Maybe even points of entry! We can expect a tremendous amount of depth to Cyberpunk 2077!
So what do you think fans? With CD Projekt RED's desire to make more adult-themed games, titles that focus on difficulty and devotion, could our PS4 and Xbox One consoles finally see something like the original Deus Ex? Be sure to let us know what you think of Cyberpunk 2077 in the comments! Are you a fan of Deus Ex too? Let us know!
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
