Mass Effect 4 continues to allude our desire for release date information for the XBOX One , PS4 and PC. Though it seems like we won't be hearing from Bioware in that department for quite some time. This news-void has left discussions about Mass Effect 4 in the hands of the ME series' fans. We're not exactly sure what lies ahead in this whole new section of space, but could Bioware be looking elsewhere for inspiration?

As the Mass Effect series grew in popularity, I'm sure that Bioware internally discussed the future of the series. It's hardly news that the developer knew that the title would have the stamina to carry on after Shepard's departure from the trilogy. Therefore, have they laid the seeds for the future of the franchise in the body of Mass Effect's trilogy?

Mass Effect 4 & Metal Gear Solid

In the past, I've explored various avenues that Mass Effect 4 could venture down in order to have this new galaxy connect with the one's we've already explored. But one that fans have always been intrigued about, is the prospect of playing as the child of Shepard. It'd be a great way to tie us to what came before and to have Shepard's name live on in this new title.

Now, of course, with regards to the romance options that abound in Mass Effect, it would be difficult for everyone's own personal story to always have the possibility of Shepard having a child. But then we have seen something rather interesting happen in the past that's giving me a [Metal Gear Solid](movie:593264) vibe.

Seeing as [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain](tag:2683985) happens to be on my mind a lot lately, I've been replaying the whole series. But something about Big Boss reminded me of Shepard. SPOILER ALERT They were both cloned. Shepard was actually cloned in a DLC episode of Mass Effect 3, a clone who ultimately dies.

Therefore, it's quite possible that we could see Mass Effect 4 feature a clone of Shepard. They've done it before, and what's to stop them doing it again? We've seen Cerberus bring him back to life and after this man took on the Reapers and (based on your own ending) succeeded in destroying the threat, how could they not want to preserve him?

So, perhaps we could, maybe not play as, but see a character in Mass Effect 4 that is a clone of the late Shepard. Personally, I love the idea of playing as a clone of him/her and seeing us grow up on a distant planet, hearing of the heroics that are going on and being alive when we hear the mass relays explode. Or perhaps, we are that young child that we saw at the conclusion of Mass Effect 3?

Are we alive on a distant planet and hearing stories of our father/mother? It could be a bit like Fallout 3 in that we'd get to grow up and form our character at a young age, ultimately developing into the hero of the story and venturing out into the final frontier.

Well, we won't know for sometime Mass Effect fans, but what do you think about this idea for Mass Effect 4? Would you like to play as a child of Shepard? Or perhaps just meet them somewhere along the way and play as another race instead?

Be sure to let us know in the comments Mass Effect fans, and how old out for that release date on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. I'm sure 2016 will be the year. That's not too far...right?
