Ladies and gentleman! The 2010s are most definitely the '80s/'90s all over again! While most times that can be annoying; with every single film nowadays being a reboot, sequel or prequel. But sometimes, we get something from the time period that we've wanted to be revived for a loooonnng time!
Well, today, we're finally getting the reboot we've always wanted! DuckTales, the classic Disney cartoon about a greedy duck and his mischievous little nephews, is getting a revival in 2017!
Yes! Finally we can all go on wonderful adventures again with Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Lewey, Dewey and the whole Duck-Crew! The news comes from the Senior Vice President and General Manager over at Disney XD, Marc Buhaj himself!
“DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”
I loved watching DuckTales as a kid and am proud to say I've gotten my little brothers into watching the entire series on DVD! They love it, and know the theme song by heart, so I'm so happy that they'll have their own generation of "tales of derring-do, bad and good luck tales!"
As a fan of the original, I'm of course, a little worried about this. I'm not saying that Disney is bad or doing badly these days, but in my own nostalgic opinion, Disney TV isn't the way it used to be. I loved Boy Meets World, and though the new show Girl Meets World is interesting, it just doesn't do the same thing that the original did for me. And I'm not particularly a fan of the recent Mickey Mouse shorts that air on the Disney channel. In my opinion, animation these days just goes out of its way to be strange.
But...that's a rant for another time. Besides, my time has come. I've gotten too old for cartoons (apparently) and these shows today are marketed towards kids like my little brothers - so what matters is that it entertains them. Nevertheless, I'll definitely be checking out this new DuckTales cartoon and putting my two cents in. Whether it's like the original or not, I'm really glad they're rebooting this. The 2013 videogame did so well, so I know the world is ready for more DuckTales! WOO-HOO!
Will you be watching the new DuckTales?
