The Batman Arkham series has proven to be the definitive video game adaptation of the Dark Knight and it could be easily argued that it is the best adapted licensed game series ever. The Arkham series started off on the right foot by having legendary Batman writer Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series) craft the scripts for the first two games. The result was two masterpieces in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, whose story rivals any comic book arc from the comics. Rocksteady layered the games with futuristic graphics, using the revolutionary Unreal game engine that set the precedent for responsive gameplay and brawling fun.
Rocksteady Studios is back with its latest and possibly last installment, Batman: Arkham Knight. Hopefully Ben Affleck is taking notes and watching closely. Because the Batman universe that has been expertly created in these games should be the template for the solo feature films moving forward. It has a mature tone and is recognizable as existing within a world close to our own, yet has all of the fantastic elements of the comics that makes it unique.
Rocksteady has managed to secure the iconic voice of Kevin Conroy as Batman once again. The game's title character, Arkham Knight, was created specifically for the game and looks to be the newest addition to Batman's rogues gallery. The character has a world-class pedigree, as he was created by DC Comics head Geoff Johns and famed artist Jim Lee. This kid has a chance!
