The College of Wizardry is a live action role-playing group comprised of over 200 members. Together, they occupy different roles, posing as students, staff, ghosts and magical creatures from J.K Rowling's Harry Potter books.
Unfortunately, since the bosses at Warner Bros piped up regarding issues of copyright infringement, the group has been forced to detach itself from the Harry Potter universe and play out slightly tweaked magical scenarios.
Last year, the group performed epic larps in settings that resemble the ones from the series and currently, they rent the Czocha castle in Poland to reenact their wildest wizarding fantasies. For a glimpse into the shenanigans they get up to, check out this teaser from their most recent larp in November 2014:
For the group, which continues to grow with each event, this location is simply not enough. In an attempt to create an original world of endless magical possibilities , they have set up an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in the aim to raise $50,000 to fund more gatherings and events.
The end goal is to purchase an actual castle to run around in. Ultimately, if the group raises $1 million, this is the dream:
If they manage to find a more permanent home, The College of Wizardry explains just what it has in store for their members:
“Here, long-flowing robes and dragontooth wands meet jeans and leather jackets. Magical theory is taught in old castles to students at home on iPhones, and while some wizarding families proudly trace their lineage back to famous magicians such as Morgana le Fey or the Oracles of Delphi, there are powerful sorcerers popping up in suburban Chicago and downtown Shanghai.”
