Video Games are an interactive medium. A way to tell a story where the audience can take part in the actions of the characters. Video Games are also no doubt an art form. And just like books, there is no doubt they would make for good film adaptations. So here is my list of games that deserve a movie. Lets get started!

5. Assassins Creed

Director: Christoper Nolan, Baz Luhrman, James Cameron

The premise of assassins creed is great. Not only that it is original. And right now Hollywood needs a syringe of original shoved into it's arm. The first game in the series starts with the protagonist being captured by the Templar's. He is the forced to take part in exploring through his ancestors memories through a machine called the animus. With the animus Desmond his able to experience the lives of his ancestors first hand starting with Altair during the crusades. The story got even better with the sequels but became convoluted after the fifth main game in the series, Assassins creed III. The movie adaptation could avoid the confusion and bring the story to an even larger audience. If done by the right people, This is a series that could truly be great. Right now a movie is in development. The movie will star Michael Fassbender and supposedly follow a plot completely different story line than the game, taking place in the same universe/cannon as the games. Hopefully this is a movie that is done right and can shows that a video game can be turned into a great film.

4. Call of Duty Black Ops

Director: Clint Eastwood

A Surprisingly interesting story.
A Surprisingly interesting story.

Give me a second to explain. I'll make it quick. Call of Duty Black Ops is the exception to the Call Of Duty to rule. That the games are terrible, their story lines are worse, and they are basically the Michael Bay movies of the video game world. All true. However I really enjoyed this one and found the story and the mystery it poses intriguing. I wouldn't mind seeing this one adapted to film. I would of course hate the inevitable sequels that came with it. The horrible aftertaste that would accompany the delicious cookie. This one's better left as a one off.

3. The Legend Of Zelda

Director: Steven Speilberg, David Yates, Mathew Vaughn, Hayao Miyazaki

Movie? please? Now? Please? Get a move on.
Movie? please? Now? Please? Get a move on.

This one needs no explanation. Zelda has such a rich universe with so many stories to adapt and so many more to be told. To see games like ocarina of time and majoras mask adapted to screen would be amazing! Get a move on Nintendo!

2. Metroid

Directors: J.J Abrams, Ridley Scott, James Cameron

Big picture but worth it.
Big picture but worth it.

I'll admit, It has been a long time since I have played a Metroid game. But that doesn't mean I don't remember how fun they were. The Prime series was great and I would love to see the entire series adapted to film. The Sci-Fi genre could use a boost and a new entry. Once again, Get it done Nintendo!

1. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

Director: Mathew Vaughn, Baz Luhrman, Alfonso Cuaran, Zack Snyder, Martin Scorsese

One of the greatest Star Wars stories ever told.
One of the greatest Star Wars stories ever told.

This ones obvious. But lets be honest, These games were great, The game play, the freedom of choice, the awesome visuals. But more than that there was the story. besides the fact that this was the first Star Wars video game series to make you feel like your choices mattered, The story told a a great tale and told it even better than than the movies that were currently in theaters. I wont go into the details of the plot. If you haven't played this game then do yourself a favor and check it out. Disney has already announced that Star Wars spin offs are coming so why not adapt The Knights of the Old Republic series? Yes I know 'technically' that would mean another prequel trilogy. However unlike the prequel series, which did have potential but was ruined in execution, so long as these movies are given a good script, a good cast, and a good director, they will turn out great. The story is already there, It just needs to be adapted. And hopefully they will give us a third game while their at it (The Old Republic does not count). Here's hoping we will finally see the completion of the trilogy.

yup.
yup.

Let me know what games you would like to see adapted to film and stay tuned for part 2!
