Alright ya'll, hold onto your TF2 hats, because the almighty Valve are gearing up to give a presentation at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC), which obviously means "HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!"
Today (March 3rd) at 3pm PST, Valve programmer Sergiy Migdalskiy will be strutting into Room 304 in the South Hall to give a talk on "Physics for Game Programmers: Physics Optimization Strategies." That's a lot of threes to just let this seemingly innocent discussion on gaming physics slide as a mere discussion about gaming physics, right?
It's been eight years since ultra-nerd Gordan Freeman and Alyx Vance (SPOILERS) set out to locate the Borealis, and we've subsequently been left to hang onto the edge of the cliff ever since. But with the coming of this discussion about gaming physics, must come a new game engine (Source 2.0?), which, in turn, must mean Half-Life 3?!
When Half-Life 2 first launched, it surpassed expectations with its sublime Source engine, which rewrote the capabilities of physics in video games - and HL2 looked absolutely stunning, too! So now that Valve is looking to enter the battle for living room supremacy with their Steam Machines, there would be no better draw than the most mythical, meme worthy of video games.
Well, barring Sony's The Last Guardian...
I dunno, I'm sure a lot more noise would be made if Half-Life 3 was actually close to being revealed. I mean, you'd be able to power small nations with the amount of excited energy that would be thrust into the stratosphere on that day! And we are still yet to hear about Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and Team Fortress 3.
But... but what if they revealed all of them...
