I know I will get a lot of hate for this, but TRUE MMPR fans do not like that "gritty" fan film. It's over use of unnecessary swearing, drug use, and giving real guns to the rangers is not what we want. Yes, it would be nice to see a more grown up version, but something that sticks to who they are. You cannot just alter the image they have made for themselves.

This fan film promises all of that, many have most likely already been waiting, and some given up. The Kickstarter by Dominick Sivilli has been funded for some time now. The director has recently announced that it is in post production, which takes the most time.

In this take, it is a continuation of the original story, The Machine Empire was destroyed when Zordon sacraficed himself, Lord Zedd was made human. The plot: "The Power Rangers have vanished. Lord Zedd, their greatest enemy, has been defeated. The world is saved. Tommy Oliver, no longer the White Ranger, is in exile; running…hiding…waiting…for evil to find him again.

The world has moved on. Now, 20 years later, Lord Zedd has returned – stronger and nastier than before! Slowly regaining his powers and at the helm of a new army, he is looking for revenge against Tommy and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Haunted by his past and having given up on fighting for the world, Tommy is tracked down by Zedd and his minions. But with the help of a mysterious woman, they discover that Zedd is looking for more than revenge...much more.

Now, to stop the forces of evil, Tommy and this mysterious woman seek help in stopping Zedd: an underground street fighter looking to do battle with anyone and everyone, twin sisters as different as night and day, seeking to protect the earth, and a police officer who is no stranger to villains.

A new group of heroes have been chosen, but will they be able to team together to defeat Lord Zedd, all while dealing with an interfering militants and his soldiers?

Will they triumph, or will Zedd finally destroy his greatest threat once and for all?

Reformed, re-powered, the POWER RANGERS are back."

The teaser trailer shows us a darker, more grown up, version of the MMPR without changing who they are. This fan film is also recommended by former rangers Jason David Frank and Austin St. Johns, rumored to have one of them returning for filming, and stars original actor Edwin Neal as Lord Zedd once again.

I for one am really excited about this fan film, a darker version that is still tame enough to share with younger audiences.

Was the other Ranger fan film too dark?

Update: They just released a mini-episode on their facebook page.
