Model Alisha Heng has been announced via twitter that she will be playing Rachel in the flashbacks of The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials.

The Scorch Trials(sequel to The Maze Runner) was green lit 2 weeks before The Maze Runner came into theaters With Runner a solid performer, Fox immediately dated the sequel and has Scorch Trials in pre-production. Director Wes Ball is back for the sequel as are the producers. Lead Dylan O'Brien(Thomas) is also back and will now find himself in a potential romantic triangle between the characters of Brenda(Rosa Salazar) and Teresa(Kaya Scodelario).

The first movie focused on a group of young men escaping through a deadly maze and only had one female lead, played by Kaya Scodelario. In a major coup for the actress, Heng will play Rachel, a character who runs around with another group of teens (and eventually dies trying to escape the maze). Aidan Gillen, who plays Game of Thrones character Littlefinger, was previously cast as the villain.

Heng already has one YA adventure movie under her belt: She recently completed a small role in Divergent sequel Insurgent and in both Allegiant movies. The actress has also notched up several high profile appearances in films such as Kingsman: The Secret Service, Ballet 422, Jupiter Ascending, Brooklyn, and Far From the Madding Crowd. Her agency that represents her for acting, Women's Management, has not yet said a word. For now, all we know is that The Scorch Trials movie with have probably a lot of surprises with this casting announcement as the first.

She is represented by Women's Management and Elite Model Management.
