[Spoiler Alert] Please stop reading if you do not want to read spoilers concerning current and future episodes of Arrow!
Like most shows, Arrow focuses on a major villain to headline it's seasons. Season one saw Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) avenge the death of his wife by destroying The Glades. Season two saw Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) terrorize Oliver (Stephen Amell) and those around him for his role in Shado's (Celina Jade) death. Season three thus far has had Oliver going up against the man in charge of The League of Assassins, Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable).
With the end of the season slowly approaching, who can possibly headline next season as the main villain? According to TVLine, it appears that The Dark Knight's flesh and blood might make an appearance on the show.
The show’s Season 3 finale will introduce a major, formidable, fierce new foe for Oliver, and his reign of terror will continue well into Season 4. The mysterious character is being referred to internally as “Damian Dark,” which got Matt Mitovich and I (but mostly MM) pulling up and skimming the Wiki page of one Damian Wayne. Get it? Damian Wayne. Son of the Dark Knight. They’d probably have to tweak the Bruce Wayne connection, but it’s a plausible theory, no?
If this were to happen, it may be possible that Oliver will triumph over Ra's al Ghul, which will lead Damian to follow a path of vengeance, much like he did with Deathstroke in the animated film Son of Batman.
For those that don't know much about the character, Damian Wayne is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, making him the grandson of Ra's al Ghul. Damian was raised by Talia, and the League of Assassins, while Batman was unaware of Damian's existence. Damian from a young age would learn to kill, which causes tension between him and Bruce because Batman does not kill. After much hardships, Damian joins Batman as Robin.
It is entirely possibly for Damian to exist, since it has already been confirmed on The Flash that Bruce Wayne exists. But what about Talia, she hasn't been established on the show but that doesn't mean she won't be. A couple of days ago, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg talked a bit about Talia, he said:
"We haven't made any firm decisions on whether Talia exists in our continuity. We are so, so, so happy with Katrina and Nyssa, and if we ever think of a reason to have a Talia or whatever incarnation we decide to do, it would be in service of furthering Katrina's story."
If they decide to introduce Talia and this storyline, it will definitely expand the universe that The CW and DC Comics has created. While this is currently a rumor, it does raise the question as to where Arrow will head once Ra's al Ghul's arc is over. Will the producers head for a grounded villain like they have thus far or will they shake it up and have a metahuman be the main bad for next season? What do you think the producers will do?
