The Battlefield series has long presented us with epic and chaotic battles that aim to give us the experience of heated military war zones. Battlefield Hardline aims to shift the focus to the streets of America in a very different way. We now have a cops and robbers dynamic, with SWAT trucks, police cars and getaway vehicles. But whats the consensus on Battlefield Hardline in the community?
Have Battlefield veterans adapted to the change of setting? Are they enjoying these new surroundings, or are they wishing we'd received Battlefield 5 this year instead? EA are busy with their FPS releases in 2015, with the highly anticipated [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021) 's release date for XBOX One , PS4 and PC well on the way. But where should the Battlefield series go from here?
Battlefield Hardline & Battlefield 5
As we're aware, Battlefield 5 will be returning to the familiar military settings we're so accustomed to with the series on its release date for the PC, Xbox One and PS4. But then again, that may not entirely be the case. We were told that it would be a military-style game, but could it actually follow the likes of Advanced Warfare or its own Battlefield 2142?
Seeing as the modern first person shooters in the West are becoming more, well, modern, we may see Battlefield 5 join in the futuristic chaos. It may not exactly be the next Titanfall, but the next instalment in the series has been labelled a "fun, new Battlefield" by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen. Does this mean we'll be seeing a change to the formula like we're seeing with Battlefield Hardline?
Battlefield Hardline has been very well received by the Battlefield community (at least from what I've seen on Reddit over the past few weeks). The Hardline Beta did extremely well and saw thousands of players take to it every day. It will assuredly be a success on its release date but is it indicative of where Battlefield players want to see the series go?
Should Battlefield Hardline Lead the Way for Future Battlefield Games?
Personally, I love to see a franchise shake things up a bit. Battlefield has been rather safe with its last two instalments, and its great to see Battlefield Hardline attempting to infuse the series with some new, creative life. But is this what Battlefield fans want? Should we see more titles in the series like Hardline?
Battlefield Hardline's release date is set for March 17th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Will you be joining the chaos on this day? Are you happy with this change of setting? Or are you longing for Battlefield 5 to arrive and return to military zones? Let us know in the comments!
