Actress Alia Shawkat, best known for her role as Maeby Fünke in Arrested Development, signs on as the female lead in Hallucinaut, a fantasy short film Executive Produced by Terry Gilliam.

Alia will be playing the role of Beatrice, a palm reader who guides the film's protagonist on a micro adventure into his lifeline.

In response to the casting announcement, Daniele Auber, Hallucinaut's Writer/Director wrote: "Alia is a dream fit for the part of a psychedelic palm reader. Behind her cheeky eyes, she is both profound and mystical."

The film is currently gaining attention with its Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign. In addition to Alia Shawkat and Terry Gilliam, the Hallucinaut Kickstarter has been supported by notable Hollywood veterans Wes Craven and Stan Lee, as well as over 400 Kickstarter Backers.

The Kickstarter will run until March 21st with a goal of raising $50,000 for the film's production.
