With the success from Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent and the anticipation of the upcoming Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty & the Beast, one must wonder what Disney is going to do next.
Here are some guesses as to what Disney could have up their sleeve in the near future:
1) The Little Mermaid
Being one of my personal favorites of the Disney movies, I know it's a little biased, but come on! Who wouldn't want to see this movie brought to the big screen again, only this time, with all the realness of Splash but keeping that magical Disney touch? Talking fish, giant half human/ half octopi, and of course the breathtaking mer-people... it all seems so wonderful!
All history books aside, a live-action version of this Disney classic would be nothing shy of phenomenal! Anyone who has seen this movie, I'm sure would agree with me in saying that the everlasting effect of this love story deserves its chance to come to life right before our eyes. Also, any chance to see Meeko and Flit's mute, but comic genius once again is a movie worth seeing!
3) Peter Pan
If this movie didn't find its way on here somewhere, then disaster was bound to strike. One of the most heartwarming and hope giving movies from Disney to date, Peter Pan, in my opinion, is one of the perfect candidates for transition into semi-real life! Laughter and fun surely can't be far behind with faith, trust and pixie dust!
The Action. The Mystery. The Enchantment. It would only seem fair to see it again in live-action. From the quick wit of the street rat, Aladdin, to the beauty of Jasmine herself. From the evil in Jafar's plans, to the powers unleashed by the almighty Genie. If I had the lamp, I know I would use one of my wishes to make this movie possible!
All I have to say about this movie is that for die hard fans like me, it would be a shame not to make it more realistic. Trying it on wouldn't hurt. You might be surprised at how awesome it would turn out. Just think... Mushu in live-action! Need I say more?
Close your eyes... imagine the beauty of the jungle from the movie. Tropical birds, scaly lizards and snakes, slimy insects, and of course! Don't forget the gorillas. Only this time, imagine it all live, instead of animated. What a great scene. Add a little bit of Tarzan, Jane, and Clayton into the mix, and you have yourself a movie worthy of being watched over and over and over again.
