During a recent interview with IGN, A&E's [Bates Motel](series:753920)'s Freddy Highmore (plays Norman Bates) was asked if he would have any interest in playing Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. His response was pretty gung-ho.
"Obviously I would love to be considered," Highmore told IGN. "That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go."
Highmore, at age 23, is a budding star in Hollywood. Of course getting to play Spider-Man would put him over the top in terms of exposure and star-power. But what about that role specifically is he attracted to?
"You always feel like you can identify with him," Highmore explained. "He's that kind of guy at school who wasn't perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man - in this other side to his life."
"I was going to try and make a comparison between Spider-Man and Norman Bates," Highmore said bashfully. "But I'm not sure...it's probably best to stay clear of that one."
He then elaborates a bit, saying that both characters are awkward and have a desire to try to fit in.

The next Spider-Man film is set to be released July 28, 2017. The rumored director is Drew Goddard and it's title is currently The Spectacular Spider-Man.
