Nathan Fillion - Captain Malcolm Reynolds
Everyone's favorite bonnet-wearing Captain is the epitome of command. His wit, his class, and his undeniable authority are what make the character of Malcolm Reynolds what he truly is, but try to imagine him captain-ing the Serenity after seeing this:
Oh man. When I saw this I almost died. With that sly smile, you can't deny that this man was born to be Mal. If you compare his facial features, he doesn't really look all that different, but young Nathan Fillion is still something everyone should be able to experience. As most of you already know, Nathan Fillion is known for starring in the show Castle and recently guest-starring in an episode of The Big Bang Theory.
Alan Tudyk - Hoban Washburne
The wise-cracking pilot of the Serenity is probably one of the biggest fan-favorites of the series, and his death in Serenity was one of the saddest cinematic moments I've ever experienced. If you ever get tired of his trademark jumpsuits and Hawaiian shirts (and I doubt you ever will), check out back when Alan wore a suit for his yearbook picture:
Classy right? I bet you thought that you would never see him looking so formal. Other than Firefly, Alan Tudyk starred in Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil and appeared as Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball. He has also applied his vocal talents to Turbo from Wreck-It Ralph and the Duke of Weselton in Frozen.
Morena Baccarin - Inara Serra
Speaking of fan-favorites, Inara is a big one. Regardless of her profession, she was beloved by many fans, male and female alike. Morena has also made a name for herself by appearing in V and an episode of How I Met Your Mother. Recently, she has been confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming Deadpool movie. Though she still has a youthful appearance, check out what she used to look like.
Jewel Staite - Kaylee Frye
Kaylee is an unbelievable character. She is quite a mixture of girly girl (with her pink, poofy dress) and tomboy (with the mechanics and the tendency to get dirty). Other than appearing in the Stargate: Atlantis television show, Jewel isn't known for much other than playing Kaylee, but check out what she looked like before Firefly:
She also looks remarkably similar to how she looked in Firefly. She does seem a lot more child-like than Morena and Alan did, it's interesting to see such a young actress even younger.
Adam Baldwin - Jayne Cobb
Jayne tries to be the mean, heartless mercenary type, but judging by his "cunning hat," he is just a big ol' softie. Adam Baldwin, who plays Jayne, is known for playing more hardened characters after playing in Full Metal Jacket and even guest-starring in an episode of Castle along with Nathan Fillion. Even though he has a reputation as a tough-guy, check out a less cunning version of him:
This has to be one of my favorites on the list, due to his blatant, innocent look. He has the biggest contrast of appearance. His clean-shaven look and ever-staring eyes are a slap to the face compared with Jayne's trademark beard and angry look.
Ron Glass - Shepherd Derrial Book
Book was the conscience of the crew, which is ironic considering his cryptic back-story (check out Dark Horse Comics for Shepherd Book's story). While he wasn't as much of a fan-favorite compared to Mal, Wash, and Inara, he was still an integral part of the Serenity crew, and his death was just as saddening as Wash's. Compared to the rest of the Firefly cast, he has a much longer pre-Firefly resume, including the television show Barney Miller. During these times, he looked a lot more funky:
River was right in freaking out over his hair. I understand River, I understand. That afro is pretty epic though. Other than his darker and more stylish hair, he pretty much looks the same. Since Firefly, he has appeared in various episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and CSI.
