According to Sony Pictures, they're planning a male-centric film to accompany the female-led Ghostbusters. One could say it was a response to criticisms of changing the cast to female leads and, while I don't like that decision, I'm keen on seeing Tatum and Pratt get their goofiest. Of course, this is all hearsay, because Ghostbusters plans have been changing on and off for a long while.
Reportedly, the male-driven one is a spin-off and they wish to expand Ghostbusters to a broader brand. That leaves me scratching my head as to how such a major casting decision can be a mere spin-off and not on par with the other coming out.
Either way, I'm glad to see the casting decision and that the film will be lead by Anthony and Joe Russo, best known for their work on [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973). Note they'd be producing, not directing, and the plan hasn't garnered a response from Pratt yet, but Tatum is reportedly pumped and we all know what that leads to: a great movie.
