Unless you've been living under a rock, then you have seen the third and final trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. What the trailer breaks down into is the deep icy robotic tone of Ultrons warning against the worlds greatest heroes, our heroes facing almost unbeatable odds, the logo of the film and finally the wondrous eyes of The Vision.
A brief history of The Vision...
But who is this character and what does he mean to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? There are many adaptations and imaginings to comic book characters so lets focus on the first appearance of the modern Vision starting from issue #57 of Avengers even though the first appearance of the vision was Marvel Mystery Comics #13 created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon.
The first time he met the Avengers he was an enemy, being created by the robotic villain Ultron 5. He has demonstrated a number of powers including density shifting, super strength, energy beams, and flight. But after the fight with the Avengers The Vision had a change of heart rebelling and ultimately defeating Ultron 5, gaining the trust of the Avengers. It was the Avenger Goliath who realized that Ultron 5 was the progression from an abandoned project and further more the brain waves of The Vision matched the assumed dead avenger Wonderman. (Lets face it, not everyone stays dead in comics.) This would attribute to the Vision's strong will and willingness to do good.
Later on his origin would include being made from the original human torch, much like Johnny storm but was a synthezoid. I personally like his appearance in the the 4 issue serie Marvels. Alex Ross is a painting badass.
Shot from Captain America: The First Avenger, the original Human Torch was on display.
Further down the rabbit hole of the Vision... He married the Scarlet Witch and due to her hex powers, he was able to have two children. Not bad for a Christmas colored synthezoid.
Speculation for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In the new movie age of Ultron, The Vision will most likely bypass the brain wave element of Wonderman and be a complete byproduct of Tony Stark's Ultron Program which goes wrong resulting in the movies antagonist. The vision as an alternative might be a 2nd stage Ultron program rather than Ultron creating him. With the creator of Ultron being Tony Stark rather than Hank Pym unlike in the comics we may see a mention of the original Ant-man in at least mention or they may use the oppertunity to introduce Hank Pym into the MCU.
So how do you think the alternative creation of Ultron will have an effect on the creation of The Vision? Can you foresee Hank Pym or Wonderman being mentioned in the new film before Ant-man hits the screen or Avengers Phase 3? What do you think?
