Greetings! With the recent news of Spiderman joining the Marvel Cinematic Universethat quite literally broke the internet, there has been much speculation about who will be playing the iconic Spiderman/Peter Parker and his love interests like Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson.

Now I am sure you have seen many articles speculating who will playing the web head, so I thought today instead I could dive straight into Peter Parker's main love interests, Gwen Stacy and Mary-Jane Watson. Now both characters have been seen on screen, Mary-Jane Watson played by Kirsten Dunst and Gwen Stacy played by Bryce Dallas Howard in Sam Raimi's Spiderman Trilogy. Then when the reboot came along in 2012 after the disappointing results from Spiderman 3 (2007), Gwen Stacy was played by Emma Stone in both Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and [The Amazing Spider-Man 2](movie:508593) (2014).

Now fun fact, even though Mary-Jane Watson didn't appear in Webb's reboot, her character was originally going to appear in the second film earlier last year, played by Shailene Woodley. Due to the producers believing there was too many characters (As if there wasn't enough characters anyway) in the film, her scenes were all cut from the film.

Marc Webb gave a statement;

There was one little scene at the beginning where she is next door and it took place right around the montage where he comes back and there was another little moment between Gwen and MJ.
But it just tipped over. The relationship between them [Peter and Gwen] is so sacred and so powerful, that it just didn’t feel right. And it sucks because Shailene is such a f**king great actress and so cool and magical but it was just about having this obligation to this romance that I thought was sacred. It was just one of those things.

And also, here is the scene they are talking about below.

So in a recent interview with Shailene Woodley, she has been open in the fact that should we love to have a chance to play her again, I mean I'm sure at this point anyone would do anything to be a part of the MCU after its mass successes.

This would work perfectly as she technically wasn't even a part of the last Spiderman film and therefore it's quite easy to bring the actor back without creating confusion between the two universes.

When told about the new reboot and the chance to play Mary Jane, she responded quite positively, here's what she said;

Oh yeah, I didn't actually it's amazing, oh really heck YEAH!'

So what do you think about Shailene Woodley being recast into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Do you like it? Don't like it?

Do you think she is a 'right-fit' for Mary-Jane Watson?
