Well, there has been no shortage of people wailing and lamenting over "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice", cringing about how terrible it will be. However, I think everybody's jumping the gun just a little bit, and here's why...

First, Ben Affleck. Sooo many people can't get past Gigli and Daredevil, choosing rather to completely ignore how his films in the last few years, both movies he has acted in and movies he has directed, have drastically improved. Seriously, get over those old movies already! It's arguable as to whether those movies sucked because of Affleck or the production team anyway. How about Gone Girl? Argo? Clearly Affleck's films have improved, either by his acting or simply his choice of what movies he's in. Let's just give the man a chance. And as for those who just don't think he'll make a good Batman / Bruce Wayne: Ben Affleck has shown his variability in the numerous characters he's been able to personify, and just about every other actor has met skepticism when taking on a superhero role, yet many of them have surprised us into loving them.

Secondly, the heroes. Granted, the roster does sound a little heavy. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, [Aquaman](movie:264237), Luthor, not to mention the rumors of other possible additions such as Doomsday and [The Flash](series:1068303). But still, how much do we REALLY know? Batman and Superman fight, Luthor is somehow the villain, and Aquaman and [Wonder Woman](movie:45787) have something to do with it. Beyond that, our details are still very sketchy. It may just be a huge moshpit of comic book chaos, or perhaps it's well-written and the main focus is still on the big fight. Regardless, with so little real information, it's too soon to call.

Lastly, we have NO visual idea of this movie other than some brief footage and a few set and promo shots. With no trailer to get an idea of how this movie flows visually and how the characters fit into the story, it's all just up in the air. With no good way to visualize the best, most people are just visualizing the worst.

The bottom line: we don't know enough yet. Affleck might suck, he might be great. The character count might be too high, or the balance might be perfect. It might look great, it might look terrible. I'm going to reserve judgment with high hopes until we get a more solid idea of what this movie will actually be like.
