Now, with all the excitement that's currently surrounding the CW's Arrow and (perhaps even more so for) The Flash, you might be forgiven for thinking that the enthusiasm levels for television superheroes may have already been maxed out.

Unless, of course, you were to take a look at what we're soon set to see in the form of DC's latest foray into super-heroic television, CBS' already-getting-a-pilot Supergirl. Which, by simple virtue of being all about Supergirl, already sounds awesome.

The big question, though? Will it be able to live up to the heightened expectations that are being placed upon it?

Well, thanks to Kryptonsite, we've just received our first look at the show's leading lady, Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl, in character - along with its main man, Jimmy Olsen.

Which, along with some more revealing shots of Kara's character (presumably heading to her first day) at work, revealed by the Twitter account Supergirlmb...

...suggests that Melissa Benoist and Mehcad Brooks (Kara and Jimmy respectively) are likely to have exactly the sort of on-screen chemistry that a teen-targeted show like this depends on even more than most.

What they aren't, though, is exactly what some fans of the comics were expecting, with both Supergirl...

...and Jimmy Olsen...

...taking on distinctly different looks to what we're used to. Now, what we've seen so far of Kara is clearly going to be very different from the Supergirl we eventually see - she's in her civvies, after all - but there's potentially going to be a little more controversy around the casting of Brooks as Jimmy Olsen.

After all, fine actor though he is, there's always going to be someone who has a problem with the fact that Jimmy Olsen's no longer a red-head...

What do you think, though? Do the new Supergirl and Jimmy Olsen look awesome to you? Is there anything you'd change about the show before it heads to series? And who else would you like to see appear?
