It's no secret that the beloved Spidey comes with a responsibility on which actor will portray him. Early February, Marvel and Sony announced that they made a deal on the hit comic book character Spider-Man.
"We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man," said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. "This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans."
Since the news that previous Spidey Andrew Garfield will be booted and will not return for the next reboot, it had fans wondering everywhere who would play the new Spidey. Fans immediately started making their fan list with names such as Dylan O'Brien and Logan Lerman. So here we go, Everything is just a rumor, the names, the ideas, etc. BUT HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR:
-Spider-Man could be ethnic. Many reports suggest that the new Spider-Man could feature a black and or latino actor to play Peter Parker, or Miles Morales, but I am not getting into that whole debate. Miles or Peter, he's got a mask.
-Dylan O'Brien has since denied the rumors saying that he was Spider-Man, or has even auditioned. Of course this leaves fans upset and delusional that he's "lying", but what are you going to do.
“Professionally, I haven’t heard anything about it,” the actor told BuzzFeed News on Tuesday while on the set of Teen Wolf. “I’ve only heard from, like, [rumors] online.”
O’Brien said he has no idea where or how the reports originated. “It feels so weird to say,” he added with a laugh. “It’s so funny. My friends from New Jersey are calling me. They’re like, what are you not telling me, dude?! Spider-Man?!”
Those fans have apparently made O’Brien somewhat reluctant to debunk the rumor. “It makes me feel bad because I’m, like, disappointing a big chunk of fans across the nation,” he said. “You can tell them that it’s not true.”

Logan still has yet to speak on the rumors.
- Reports from Latino Review states that casting started about a week ago and are searching for 15 YEAR OLD actors, and teen actors to play 15. Yes, you heard that right. We already know that Marvel wants to put Spidey back in school, so it makes sense. If they can find me a teen actor who isn't annoying and can actually act, I'll be happy.
-Recent reports also claim that as of now they are NOT seeing any 20+ for the role, so that debunks the Dylan/Logan rumors, but still, even this is a rumor.
-Latino Review also claims that the new Spidey will most likely be an unknown actor. As long as he's good, who cares.
So here's the breakdown: Everything is a rumor. We just have to sit tight and wait for the official announcement, but know that casting is holding sessions right now (that is confirmed). So we'll wait and see. All I'm saying is: White, Black, Brown, Blue, red, don't cast some English actor. I'm tired of those.
