But they're not just any covers. They're acapella covers!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Acapella? But seriously, trust me, you have to watch/listen to them! Max Gleason, a man that goes by the name of Smooth McGroove, dedicates his YouTube channel for doing various video game soundtracks. It's so ridiculously awesome!

Tetris

This game doesn't need any explaining, right? It's the tile-matching puzzle game with perhaps the biggest earworm ever. To listen to the original song as a comparison, click here.

Chrono Trigger

This game makes it's way into many top JRPGs of all time lists, and is a big staple in many fans of the genre, making the main theme pretty famous. To listen to the original song as a comparison, click here.

Final Fantasy VII

Another huge staple for the JRPG fans. Many Final Fantasy fans argue which one is the best game, and even if VII doesn't make it to the top, it's usually only a short ways behind, making the battle theme pretty recognizable (considering you hear the battle music about 4,968,413 times in each play-through). The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda is such a widely liked franchise, and believe it or not, I haven't played significant amounts of any of the titles because I hate good games (that is a lie. Real reason: There are too many good games to choose from). To listen to the original song as a comparison, click here.

Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald

Everyone knows about Pokémon, and even a fair few of the old-school Pokémon fans have played Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. And with the reboot, it's now popular with the younger generation of fans. Max said on a Reddit AMA that Mt. Pyre Peak was one of his hardest videos, and his longest to create. It took him about a week from start to finish! Dark Souls

Retro games aren't the only games that Max covers! He also covered Gwen, Lord of Cinder from the notoriously difficult Dark Souls. To listen to the original song as a comparison, click here.

LittleBigPlanet 3

The LittleBigPlanet series has made quite the name for itself. A cute little platformer which also encourages creativity in the players, making it easy to build and create your own levels and upload them for others to play. The LBP audio team worked with Max to get this acapella cover of 'Gardens' from LBP1 as an unlockable track in LBP3! How freaking awesome is that?! There are SO many other awesome videos on his YouTube channel, which I highly suggest taking a peek at and subscribing to, you can do so here. So what did you think? Let me know in the comments!
