May I say, not only is Ian Somerhalder a great actor, but an awesome director and 'Downward Spiral' proves it

So Mama Salvatore's a ripper, I did not see that coming. I honestly thought she did something much worse. I mean, yes Kai did say that she left countless bodies piled up from Europe to Manhattan in search of Damon and, yes the Gemini coven decided to 'punish' her but there are many other rippers out there. What I don't get is why she wanted to find Damon specifically and not Stefan who was also a vampire. You may not all agree with me, but I knew from the start that Damon is a good brother, he was always there for Stefan. Now he's not telling him about their mother because he doesn't want to ruin his memory of her and because he wants to protect him. In the synopsis it is said that Bonnie will give Damon a gift that will shake him to his core. What could it be?

Ian Somerhalder explained his character's psychology to TV Guide:

The two most important women in his life, Katherine and his mother, abandoned him and didn't love him. That's a gnarly thing. So, he's going to spend some time trying to find out what really happened. It's a brutal thing for him to go through and he's going to have to figure it out

"Stefan without his humanity is one artery away from Stefan the Ripper." This episode reminded me why I love [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853); [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853) the unexpected twists Stefan and Caroline both 'emotion free bye bye humanity' I'm guessing they will be goin on a blood sucking spree any time now

Obviously her time in the prison world has changed her. It is said in the synopsis that Kai and Bonnie are going to help Damon and Elena rescue Mama Salvatore, which seems unlikely to me since Bonnie told Kai, "If I ever see your face again, I will melt it off," and she magically strangled and stabbed Damon twice. So, I think it will be hard for her to forgive them... especially Kai.

Ian also talked about Bamon to TV Guide:

Bonnie and Damon have a really great scene in this episode where Bonnie is just so fed up. She always gets hurt and is always the fall girl, and it's always so intense for her, she tries her hardest to help people and it always backfires on her. This experience in the prison world made her a woman, and she's no longer going to deal with this bulls

Am I the only one who did not see Enzo developing an affection for Sarah? He's just using her for his evil plan and I kind of get him. He was tortured for years and just when he thought it was behind him. And it was because of Stefan that Trip locked him up and tortured him. In this week's episode he's going to "reel Caroline in" with the help of Alaric, which definitely has to do with flipping the humanity switch back on.
