William Shatner is one of the most iconic actors in American television (although he is, in fact, Canadian). He is known to just about anyone in the entire world. Here are some fun facts you may not have known about William Shatner:

1. Michael Meyers Wore William Shatner's Face

Yes, kiddies, the original Michael Meyers mask from the first Halloween was actually a William Shatner Halloween mask that was store bought and painted white. How's that for an uncredited cameo?

2. He Owned a Doberman in the 1970s Named Kirk

And let's be real here, who doesn't want a Doberman named Kirk? I know I do, but all I have is a Jack Russell Terrier named Krypto. In all seriousness, though, it is a testament to his character that he was able to still give homage to Captain Kirk in a time during his career where acting roles were few and far between and...

3. For a Time He Was Living in a Truck!

After Star Trek had ended, Shatner's first wife left him and cleaned out his bank accounts. Without much acting work and with very little money left to his name, he lived in a truck while taking bit parts until more lucrative roles started to come along once again.

4. William Shatner is a Classically Trained Actor

Many people make jokes regarding Shatner's unique inflection in his voice and attribute it to him being overdramatic and plainly, a bad actor. The truth, however, is that William Shatner is actually a very well trained actor and began his career doing Shakespeare with the Canadian National Repertory Theater in Ottawa.

5. William Shatner Understudied for a Future Star Trek Adversary

While doing Shakespeare with the Canadian National Repertory Theater, Shatner understudied in a production of Henry V, filling in for fellow Canadian and future Klingon Christopher Plummer, who would play General Chang in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

6. William Shatner Suffered Permenant Hearing Damage During Star Trek

And, actually, so did Leonard Nimoy. The hearing of both men was damaged while filming the Original Series episode "Arena" when the men were caught too close to an on-set explosion. Nimoy suffered Tinnitus until his death and Shatner suffers from it still today.

7. He Was a Part-Time Fill-In Host During the First Season of The Canadian Howdy Doody Show

Um, that is all. Not really much to add at this point.

8. He Won 2 Emmys for Playing the Same Character on 2 Different TV Shows

In case you didn't know, Boston Legal was a spin-off of The Practice. The final season of The Practice introduced the character of Alan Shore and in a multi-episode story arc near the end of the series, William Shatner was introduced as Denny Crane. Shatner won Emmys for playing Crane on both shows, a feat that has not been achieved by many. Interestingly, James Spader also won Emmys for playing Alan Shore on both series.

9. William Shatner is Fluent in 3 Languages

Shatner's native tongue is English, but he is also fluent in Esperanto and French.

10. William Shatner Has Never Worn a Toupee

It has long been rumored that Shatner is bald and wears a toupee. This just isn't true. In fact, in recent years, Shatner has only just begun to lose his hair on the top of his head. Shatner does, however, enjoy self parody and frequently teases about the subject.
