[Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain](tag:2683985) has finally received its release date for the XBOX One , PS4 , Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. September 1st marks the return of Big Boss into our lives, and maybe even Solid Snake! But how will the end of his Metal Gear work affect Hideo Kojima's future as a director of Video Games ?

As we're aware, Kojima has stated that Metal Gear Solid 5, will be his final MGS game. He's always gone back on this statement in the past, however, with his first new project in sight outside of this universe, I think we have to believe him this time. The P.T. demo that released earlier this year concealed the announcement of Silent Hills, coming in 2016. Could the Phantom Pain affect this title and it's proposed release date?

The MGS Series After Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

So we'll finally get to see Kojima's improved directing skills outside of the [Metal Gear Solid](movie:593264) universe, and to be honest, that's far more interesting than seeing him on MGS6. But in no way does this infer that Konami plan on abandoning the most successful franchise in their history. I'm sure there's plenty more to come following MGS5.

Where would you like to see the series go after Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? Are you hungry for another Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance? Do you want to see a whole new world with new characters? Personally, I'd love to see a game based on the adventures of the Boss, eventually leading up to her death at the hands of Solid Snake.

I mean she could potentially be more efficient than Snake, she did allow him to kill her at the end of Metal Gear Solid 3. She taught him everything he knows, and I'd generally just like to see a female character lead a series like MGS. Let us know what you think in the comments!

MGS5 & Kojima's Silent Hills

So Hideo Kojima will be directing a 2016, presumably, survival horror game starring Norman Reedus. Guillermo del Toro is also involved on the project, though it's not entirely clear in what capacity. In any case, MGS5 actually has a pretty late release date for this year. And with so many developers coming to grips with developing for the PS4 and Xbox One, a lot of titles are being pushed back.

Considering the amount of effort and dedication Kojima puts into his work, I can't see Silent Hills being released in 2016. He has all of this year to finish up on the Metal Gear series, and such an enormous title like Silent Hills, would take a long time to develop. Perhaps they've been working without him for a while, as I'm sure his mind is dedicated to the end of an era.

So what do you think fans? Are you excited to see Hideo Kojima move beyond the Metal Gear franchise? What will you be picking up Metal Gear Solid 5 on? Has he been working on Silent Hills for years alongside MGS5? Let us know what you believe in the comments below!
