I could sit here and regale you in my love of (Lord) Joss Whedon's seminal space western Firefly; how it was taken from us too soon, how 'Objects In Space' is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen, how Whedon managed to make us all feel like part of a fully autonomous universe (in such a short space of time) and how much I desperately need a long brown duster coat/Hawaiian shirt.
But I shan't, for that would be the makings of a very long essay.
But still the sentiment remains. Firefly is a lesson in how to create epic, hilarious and heartbreaking ensemble dramedies, where every single character resonates with the electricity and veracity of life. And, as a fan, any homage is welcome and will be championed!
Take this outstanding gender-bent cosplay of Malcolm Reynolds, by the beautiful and talented LeeAnna Vamp.
Her Stormtrooper and Boba Fett cosplays have fast become legend online, and the plaudits are completely fair, she is one of my favorite cosplayers - up there with the incredible Leon Chiro.
But the plaudits don't stop there. LeeAnna Vamp's Mal Reynolds cosplay caused so much of a stir that even (Lord) Whedon stood up to notice. But, saying that, not much gets past him:
You've gotta love Whedon's brain. The highest of accolades there, from the master world creator himself. What an amazing cosplay!
