Matt Bomer (a.k.a. living proof that some humans CAN be perfect) has been tapped for the new season of [American Horror Story](series:206668)!
He joins Lady Gaga and Cheyenne Jackson for the cast of season 5, titled American Horror Story: Hotel. After surprising fans at PaleyFest on Sunday, Bomer took to Twitter to share his excitement.
Despite his clear anticipation, not even Bomer knows exactly what's in store for him at the horrifying Hotel, and if does know, he's doing a phenomenal job of playing it off. He wouldn't confirm if he and Lady Gaga will be romantic interests, but we do know that they both will have major parts in the story.
This is a spot of good news after the confirmation that Jessica Lange is indeed not coming back for another season. Instead of mourning that tragic loss, I'm choosing to celebrate what Bomer's casting might mean for next season. Here are five reasons why he's a great choice for AHS fans:
1. He's an incredible actor
With Jessica Lange's departure, American Horror Story is losing an acting powerhouse who was the core of the show. This new season will undoubtedly feel a bit different without her, so it's smart to stack the deck in their favor with amazing talent like Bomer.
2. We didn't see enough of him last time
Bomer had a small part in American Horror Story: Freak Show as a gay hustler, and let's just say he was gone WAY too soon.
3. New actors mean new kinds of characters
I love most of the characters that have come out of the AHS universe, but sometimes, the different characters that the same actors were playing began to overlap a little bit. New blood may just mean an entirely unique character who's totally unlike anyone we've seen, and that's exactly what I love about this anthology series.
4. We needed him back on TV
With that last episode of [White Collar](series:755959) airing back in December, we were no longer promised a weekly fix of Bomer on TV. He's well on his way to becoming a major movie star, so we need these more regular installments of him while we can still get 'em.
5. The obvious
Bomer says that last time he only got to dip his toes in the "freaky-deaky nature," and he's been ready for the deep end. Let's hope he makes a splash.
