The Deadpool movie's shooting will officially begin from Match 23, 201 despite its minimal cast announcement. For all we know, Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the "Merc With A Mouth" once again after his terrible, must-forget outing in X-Men : Wolverine Origins where the director was like, "F**k it! Let's stitch his mouth and surprise fans" ; only to be received with outrages in every fan review. We also know that Gina Carano will be portraying the role of "Angel Dust", a mutant with an ability to pump her adrenaline rush and hold superhuman strength for sometime. T J Miller and Ed Skrein have also been roped in for some undisclosed roles. The latest addition to the cast is Morena Baccarin, who is expected to play as the love interest of Wade Wilson.
[Deadpool](movie:38663) has already gained expectations for the way the production of the movie started and FOX has high hopes on this solo movie by that. Yet there are two things that are bugging the fan community - It's rated PG-13 and its a low budget film. For a character like Deadpool, it will be safe to explore and experiment. The director is open to try new stuff and innovate ideas so that this movie could be a very different superhero movie than the world has seen so far - because Deadpool is indeed a different superhero at the first place. So the tight budget can be considered as a plus and a minus here.
The plus is, we can actually see the character take the screen most of the time than VFX team doing some blasts ( [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462) anybody?). We can get watch the originality and true spirit of the characters set to play which is probably the best thing in a superhero movie. A low budget action movie only means that the stunts will probably be spot on and realistic (Captain America: Winter Soldier anybody?). So this is a great news as Deadpool is in fact a mercenary who is skilled in wielding swords and is also a master of acrobats. The stunts persons who will be working in the Deadpool movie have previously worked in [Iron Man 3](movie:24391), Batman : The Dark Knight, American Sniper and in Star Trek. So we can set out expectations really high on the action sequences despite the budget.
The minus is however the exact opposite of all the plus there. We are likely to be treated with some old school action this time with visuals mainly focusing on the ability of the artist than the surrounding. Most of the shoots will be in the outdoors so the fact that a lot of what we want won't happen in a constructed set might be a problem. But let us not jump into conclusions soon and wait for an official teaser (or a test footage leak too).
I don't think the rating will affect the movie at all. Deadpool comics were circulated with no adult restriction and still clicked with the audience. Obviously we won't have any violent blood spattering scenes but we don't necessarily need that. A true Deadpool movie will have some fast paced action, high octane humor, constant breaking of the fourth wall and some badass deadpool-certified moments. The movie will pull audience from all ages and that would shoot the revenues up for FOX which might convince them to produce a sequel with better budget maybe.
In my next article I'll write in depth about the various characters and some spoilers that I know of. Stay put.
Deadpool is set to release on February 12, 2016 in theaters.
