Abi Gordon-Cody, an aspiring special effects make up artist from Worcestershire, England creates gut wrenching, squeamish and nauseating wounds and injuries with SFX make up. You wouldn't believe she loves Disney and that the sight of real blood makes her faint!
A look into the life of a seemingly twisted, yet quite the girly girl and why she loves what she creates.
To this day I couldn't tell you where my love for gore came from. Someone only needs to mention they have a paper cut and my stomach churns, I can't even look at it!
But give me half an hour by myself and I've sliced my hand, nailed my feet together or have lost a body part. I guess it boils down to the magic of make up, to be able to create a piece of bloody art and having people question whether it is real or not.
Inspiration comes not only from horror movies but every day living, I like to think outside the box. From hair dressers' scissors, to childhood games, there's a way to make everything a lethal object and cause injuries!
The two pictures above are my absolute favorite! By manipulating my ears I was able to create this illusion. Even to this day people can't work out how I've done it. I haven't told anyone either. As I said before it's like magic, and magicians never reveal their secrets!
So this is me, by day, a childlike 26 year old who adores all animated films, snuggles up with a pink unicorn toy and still orders a Happy Meal from McDonalds.
By night? (Well, most the time behind closed doors) a blood thristy, gore loving special effects make up artist with a worrying imagination, hoping to make it within the industry.
I do sometimes suffer with the dreaded brain freeze. If you have any ideas or want to challenge me with a particular make up (please, no severed heads!) Then let me know! Leave a comment and I'll see what I can conjure up!
