According to Comic Book Movie,
While attending Planet Comicon in Kansas City this past weekend, Stephen Amell told fans that the plan for the currently untitled, Arrow/Flash spinoff is for the show to "launch midseason next year."
There is the answer! The spinoff team-up series will come
The Midseason of 2016!
What does that mean for us? Well, let's start with the obvious stuff.
Why should I even care?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think midseason means spring and summer. Now, The Flash and Arrow traditionally start in the fall and end in late May. The good thing about the team-up spinoff show (I'll just call it Justice Society) is that it will air when Arrow and Flash are not. Fans will have something to watch instead of waiting for the next show and that will be awesome.
Will the Flash and Arrow themselves appear?
I would say probably. However, I doubt they would have main roles. It will most likely be The Atom leading along with half of Firestorm, the Canary, and three of the mystery heroes. This also leads into another question.
How will this show affect the current shows?
It's confirmed this new mega-series is a team-up series, so if there is a team of heroes in the CW-verse, there are bound to be major changes on the environment. There will be new villains, more popularity among the fictional citizens, and even government involvement. Another important thing to note is that The Flash will finish its second season and Arrow will finish its fourth season when the show launches. A lot can happen in between now and when Justice Society is released. For example, Stephen Amell was also very optimistic of season four.
Without spoiling anything, I will say, I think the greatest moment in the history of the show will be the trailer that we show at Comic-Con this year. I really do, because after three seasons and 69 episodes, we are going to fundamentally change the show at the grassroots level. I think it's going to be cool.
I'm thinking he'll get a new costume, more humor, and possibly a goatee.
Also, it's unknown whether the Vixen animated web series will be tied with the Justice Society at all. We'll just have to wait for that.
I think this show will be more like the Avengers than Justice League. It's not a bad thing also. To illustrate these thoughts, I made a list.
- Iron Man and Ant-Man = The Atom (rich shrinking, flying hero)
- Hawkeye = Arrow (abilities)
- Quicksilver = The Flash (powers)
- Black Widow = The Canary (very skilled fighter)
- Thor = Supergirl* (she is the only alien)
- Captain America = "The Traveller" (from a different time)
- Scarlet Witch = "Female Warrior" (unknown character, so unknown analysis)
- Firestorm = Hulk (powers to do with radiation + very powerful + hard to control actions)
- Nick Fury = Amanda Waller (ARGUS vs SHIELD comparison)
*May not be in CW-verse
It's a long shot, but that's how I see it.
These Are Exciting Times!
DC's first live-action connected universes are coming next year--Batman v Superman will introduce the Justice League and the new show will introduce the Justice Society or whatever it is.
What should this show be called?
Will you be watching this show?
