Marvel is nearing the end of the second phase of its epic theatrical plan! And so far, every single one of their casting choices has been spot on! But, they never start that way. Marvel fans are hard to please, myself included. We ranted when Robert Downey Jr., whose previous acting credits were Gothika, Shaggy Dog and himself in headshots (and it's many sequels) was cast as Iron Man! But then the film came out, and he BLEW OUR MINDS! And I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but I was in near outrage mode when I heard that Chris Evans, mediocre party movie king, was cast as Captain America. But just as the first time, my mind was absolutely imploded!

Now, Robert and Chris are about to be leaders on two different sides of a war that is set to shake the very fabric of the MCU! Proving that Marvel is great at casting the unexpected! Well now, it's my turn to cast the MCU! And as much as I love the current cast, I have some people who I think could have done a splendid job, if not a better one, as the Avengers! And just like Marvel, my choices are pretty unexpected! Now, sit back, get a nice cup of coffee and a plate of shawarma, and watch as I remold the MCU in my own vision!

First up:

Black Widow

Everyone's favorite super-spy! Natasha Romanova (or Romanoff) is a former KGB soviet spy, and an absolute spying machine! One of the greatest spies in the world, Natasha is more than enough to handle on her own. So when S.H.I.E.L.D recruited her, it was like tying a chainsaw to a shark! And when she joined the superhero team, the Avengers, it was like tying that chain-shark to a bear holding a katana, and then lighting the chainsaw and the katana on fire!

The life of Black Widow is a complex one. She's a complicated puzzle box with a troubled and mysterious past that even her closest allies don't know all the details of. She may be a good guy, but the things that she's done make it hard for her to think of herself as a hero.

Who could play her?—

Sofia Boutella

Not just anybody could be Black Widow. You need to have certain characteristics. You need to be agile, flexible, and combat ready at all times! You also need to be able to keep a cool, calm and collected look to disguise the anger and turmoil of your troubled past behind your smile. For me, the only person who could pull this off is Sofia Boutella!

Sofia already has the agile thing down! She's a dancer on and off-screen, appearing in StreetDance 2 and kicking off her career as a background dancer for Madonna! And she's proven her combat expertise in her phenomenal role as Gazelle in the epic film, Kingsman: The Secret Service!

So she's got two out of three qualities down so far! But what about the cool-headedness? If you've seen Kingsman, you know she's got that too. She's got a look that says "calm under pressure" and knows how to back it up! When people come running at her, screaming charge and wielding guns, she doesn't show any emotion. She just waits for them to get in punching and kicking range and calmly proceeds to deliver the smackdown!

An Example Of Her Inimitable Skill:

Iron Man

Billionaire, Playboy and Philanthropist, Anthony Edward 'Tony' Stark already had a full plate before he added on superhero! After being kidnapped by terrorists and getting shrapnel from a land mine caught near his heart, Tony had to act fast if he wanted to survive! The terrorist forced him to begin construction on a weapon of mass destruction. But instead, he created a suit of power armor to escape and placed an arc reactor in his chest to both power the suit and keep the shrapnel from reaching his heart and killing him.

Tony is a cocky, overconfident rich pretty boy with a heart of gold! He may be hard to work with at times, but he's a valuable ally and a strong warrior! Definitely someone you want on your side.

Who could play him?—

Sam Rockwell

Like I said before, Tony Stark is more than just a cocky rich boy. He may be self-centered at times, but inside he's a caring man who wants nothing more but to help those in need. There are so many different sides to Tony; who could possibly portray them all?

Sam Rockwell. Rockwell is known for absolutely dominating a role when it's given to him! He can go from an eccentric lady-killer/criminal mastermind in Charlie's Angels, to a serious cowboy gangster in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and then in a COMPLETELY different direction as a psychotic serial killer in Seven Psychopaths! If anyone can handle a multidimensional character such as Anthony Stark, it's Sam Rockwell.

With his undeniable charisma, he'd makes us hate-to-love and love-to-hate him in the beginning. And then, as Tony's character transforms and progresses, so shall Sam's portrayal of the character, shaping Tony into a lovable hero and savior of the earth!

And yes, I purposely didn't mention that Sam has already been in the MCU, because I'm in the process of reshaping it right now, so why mention a pre-reshaped role?

Because it was awesome?
Because it was awesome?

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

(If the roles were switched, it'd essentially be the same.)

If Robin Hood was born in the modern era, he'd probably be mesmerized at Hawkeye's skills! Clint Barton is the best archer in the world (unless you ask DC)! Clint was born into an abusive family, with a father who beat him and a mother who neglected him. After his parents died in a car accident, Clint and his brother ran away from the orphanage they were put in, and joined the circus for food and shelter. He was then trained by Swordsman and Trickshot, two circus performers who saw potential in him.

They trained him in archery, sword throwing and martial arts! Soon after, Clint found out that his two mentors were actually thieves! With this revelation, and some motivation from witnessing Iron Man perform a heroic act, Clint decides to fight crime as the superhero, Hawkeye!

Who could play him?—

Jensen Ackles

To be Hawkeye, you need to be charming, daring, and have the remarkable ability to be both wisecracking and savant. Now, maybe it's just the Supernatural fan in me talking, but I think Jensen Ackles has what it takes! I'm a fan of Jeremy Renner, but even I can agree that his Hawkeye is just a bit too stale. Jeremy's Hawkeye is simply a soldier, doing his job and letting Tony Stark take all the punchlines.

In the comics, Clint would be firing punchlines of his own right back at Iron Man! Jensen does a pretty good job wisecracking and gleaming a dashing smile as Dean in Supernatural, so I know he'd be able to take that attitude and apply it to the expert marksman! Jensen also has a knack for portraying characters that are tougher than they look. Oh sure, Clint may look like some harmless pretty-boy whose main purpose in life is to attract the female kind, but he's also able to fire an arrow at three different targets at once in less than a second! Jensen...well he can't actually do that...but what he can do is act like a pretty-boy and then surprise the entire group of henchman surrounding him by proceeding to beat the living daylights out of them! On camera of course, I have no idea how well he'd do in a real fight.

An Example Of His Inimitable (And Pretty Hilarious) Skill:

The Hulk

He didn't get the title 'Incredible' for nothing! After being exposed to a massive amount of gamma radiation, esteemed scientist Bruce Banner was transformed into a gigantic, green hulking monster! Now, whenever he gets angry, he changes into the rage-filled beast known as the Hulk!

Bruce and Hulk are two different people sharing the same body. While Bruce is calm, smart and gentle, Hulk is angry, hard-headed and brutal! Though technically a hero, Hulk's rage can cause him to level an entire city, causing the army to consider him a monster that needs to be put down.

Who could play him?—

Matthew Gray Gubler

Anyone who's seen Criminal Minds knows this guy! Matt Gubler does a great job as Spencer Reid in the awesome crime/police-procedural drama. And even though he's only played him once, and in animated form, he's my favorite Riddler (sorry Jim)!

It's without question that Matthew has the acting chops to portray Bruce Banner! Smarts, fast-talking, quick-thinking and knowing a ton of knowledge that most people don't care about are some of the things he shares with Dr. Banner. But what about Bruce's "other half"? Well, it doesn't really take much to play the mean green machine in live-action. The voice is done by the original Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno, and the Hulk is just CGI with the actors facial characteristics molded on. Unfortunately, my imagination is simply not powerful enough to imagine how Matthew Gray Gubler would look like as the Hulk. I just end up getting this:

I...I apologize for my poor editing skills...
I...I apologize for my poor editing skills...

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Thor, the Asgardian God of Thunder! Son of Odin, the King of the Gods, and Gaea, the Elder Earth-Goddess, Thor is the physical embodiment of strength, courage and chivalry! Thor is from Asgard, but you'll find this courageous lightning deity often on Earth, his home away from home. Ever since he came to the blue planet, he has vowed to protect it from any and all threats, no matter how powerful they are!

Thor's home world, Asgard, is built upon ancient Norse customs. As such, he acts and looks like he's from a time where there were knights, castles and kings! He wield's the mighty Mjolnir, a hammer that only he is worthy of lifting, and charges into battle with Asgardian pride!

Who could play him?—

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Any Game of Thrones fans reading this immediately got a sense of anger, happiness, love and hate when seeing this guy's recognizable visage! Nikolaj is known for portraying Jaime Lannister, a character in Game of Thrones that proves that villains don't need to be one-sided. In fact, I'm not even sure he's a villain. One episode he's throwing a child off of a tower, the next he's saving a maiden in distress from a savage bear!

No matter where you stand on Jaime's moral allegiance, I think we can all agree that Nikolaj does an outstanding job playing the knight! This is why I think he'd be great for Thor! Just look at his GoT character. Jaime is cocky, arrogant, a high member of a royal family, and wields a sword (Oathkeeper) that only he is worthy of holding. Sure technically anyone else could wield it, but Jaime's relationship with that sword is just like Thor's relationship with Mjolnir!

The point is, all of those qualities, plus chivalry and bravery, can be used to describe both Jaime and Thor. So if Nikolaj were to get the part, he'd do an amazing job!

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Captain America

Steve Rogers was just a lanky young man with high ambitions. After joining the army during WWII, Steve volunteered to be a test subject for the experimental Super-Soldier Serum, a serum designed to make the ultimate soldier to aid the American army! The serum worked, and Steve's physical attributes excelled immensely, transforming him into Captain America! After a failed mission, Cap was frozen in ice for ages, before being found by S.H.I.E.L.D and thawed out to become the leader of the Avengers!

Steve is an All-American hero! No one can match his bravery, strength and good-heartedness. Despite being a bit out of touch with modern times, he's still able to keep up with just about any villain that he crosses paths with!

Who could play him?—

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

JGL! Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a favorite of mine! His acting skills are amazing, and he's definitely an inspiration for a young dreamer like myself! Joseph Gordon-Levitt is known for being a Jack of many trades when it comes to acting. He can be the funny guy, the serious guy, or the action-y guy!

To tackle a role like Captain America, one that requires devotion in both the accuracy and muscular departments, you need to be a concentrated and skillful actor. You've also got to be funny, but serious when you need to be, and of course you have to be good at fight scenes. I think that JGL has the devotion and emotions to pull off portraying the "First Avenger"!

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Ok, so that's it for all of the Avengers! This is the part where the article ends, and you can all go back to binge-watching Friends on Netflix! Bye!

Get it?!
Get it?!

I know this article is a bit lengthy folks, but we've still got some more Avengers to cover. No need glossing over the others really quick, I haven't missed anyone. All of the ORIGINAL Avengers are there, but we've forgotten the...upcoming ones!

[Note: I'm aware that these next heroes haven't exactly been confirmed to be Avengers, but it's wildly expected that they will be. So let's just assume the most likely for now!]

Doctor Strange

Dr. Stephen Strange was just an ordinary surgeon. But one day, he injured his hands in a terrible car accident! His hands were practically his career, so he sought out a way to cure them. After he realized that no mortal medicine could heal him, he sought out something less mortal. He found the Ancient One, who instead of simply healing his hands, trained Strange in the mystical and magical arts. Stephen then became Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme of Earth!

Strange is very wise, yet still manages to be very cocky and egotistical. Still, he is a challenging adversary, able to perform any spell and incantation! He literally sees the world differently, as he is able to look into and journey into different dimensional planes, and fight any adversaries that may be looking to journey out of them. His magical abilities are still questioned by some. Mainly Tony Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D, who wonders if his magic is simply undiscovered science.

Who could play him?—

Daniel Radcliffe

Mr. Potter himself! Now I know that you're probably thinking that I chose Radcliffe simply because he has experience playing wizards. It's true, I am a mega Potterhead. But I didn't choose him solely on that fact. Yes, his past dabbling in the mystical planes does give a good advantage, but it takes more than that to be the Sorcerer Supreme! Doctor Strange is wise, yet egotistical, as I said before. But he's also able to come on top not matter the odds!

I think Daniel Radcliffe's role as Harry Potter does prove that he has those qualities down. But to play Strange, you have to have a bit of an outcast complex. Among the Earth's Mightiest, whose members include a giant green monster and a God, Stephen still looks a bit out of place. I'm not saying Daniel is an outcast, but his roles always seem to have that feeling, if that makes any sense. Lastly, you have to be able to draw in the audience the way only a magician could. Daniel's roles so far have been very fantastical and have always caught eyes!

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Black Panther

T'Challa is the heir in a long line of kings in the country of Wakanda. He became the Black Panther after consuming the Wakandan Heart-Shaped Herb, giving him superhuman strength and senses!

T'Challa is one of the most intellectual people in the world, able to match the skills of Iron Man and Bruce Banner when it comes to smarts! He's also extremely skilled in combat! He doesn't need to carry a weapon, because he already has two on him at all times! I...I'm talking about his fists...if you didn't get it...

Who could play him?—

Djimon Hounsou

Djimon Hounsou! One of the coolest actors in Hollywood. Djimon is great in action roles, examples would be his roles in Push and Guardians of the Galaxy! I think Djimon would be an epic T'Challa! Sure he's a bit older than T'Challa is usually, but I don't think that matters much. What matters is that Djimon has the strength, intellect, and pride to handle portraying the Wakandan King!

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Pietro Maximoff is one-half of the Maximoff twins, mutant siblings with superpowers! His power is speed, he has the ability to travel at speeds beyond the averages humans. Pietro and his sister left the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to become members of the Avengers. It took the Avengers a bit of time to fully trust them, but they were eventually accepted by the team! Pietro's loyalty can be questionable at times, but he'll always side with his sister.

Who could play him?—

Dane Dehaan

Dane Dehaan is no stranger to the world of superheroes, having been in Chronicle and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Both of his previous superhero roles just prove that he'd be a great Pietro!

Pietro is a man of conflicted morality. He tries to be good, but every once in a while his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants past catches up to him. There was even a time where he joined his father, Magneto and tried to kill the X-Men and the Avengers, two teams full of his comrades. Dane's roles in Chronicle and TASM2 are much like that. People with conflicted emotions who try to do good, but have a growing dark side within them!

An Example Of His Inimitable Skill:

Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff is the other half of the Maximoff twins. She possesses Psionic and reality-altering powers. She too has loyalty issues, but no matter what, she will always stand by her twin brother.

Who could play her?—

Summer Glau

Summer Glau is a veteran of the sci-fi genre, with her most notable role being River Tam in Firefly and Serenity. She's also been around superheroes in her role as Isabel Rochev in Arrow.

I think she should blend sci-fi and superhero together and take on the role of Wanda Maximoff! Summer would be perfect in this role. Not only does she look a bit like Wanda, but she also has the calm but fierce attitude that Scarlet Witch gives off! Also, she's quite the fighter, as seen in Firefly. Scarlet may not use combat much, but if Summer were to portray her, you can guarantee she'd get a few kicks in-between the psionic rays and force-fields!

An Example Of Her Inimitable Skill:

Scott Lang was a regular man, until he turned to a life of crime to support his family. He was arrested after a failed robbery, and released early on parole. Scott turned to crime again when he stole Hank Pym's Ant-Man suit in an attempt to save the doctor that could heal his sick daughter. Hank admired his heroics however, and proceeded to train Scott and pass the Ant-Man costume onto him.

Who could play him?—

James Roday

James Roday is known for playing Shawn Spencer in the hit show Psych.James has many of the same qualities as Scott. He's got a fun and easy-going attitude, making him the least tense in dangerous situations. He's also quite the wise-cracker, making jokes whenever he feels they're needed!

James has basically been playing Scott Lang all his life! Now all he needs to do is put on the costume and start fighting crime!

The Vision

We're finally on to our last Avenger! The Vision was created by the evil robot Ultron as a weapon against the Avengers. Soon after his creation however, Vision gained a sense of humanity, and denounced his evil way. He then joined the Avengers, giving them any information on anything and aiding them in battle!

He has the ability to alter his density, making it possible for him to pass through objects and enhance his strength!

Who could play him?—

David Tennant

David Tennant is known for his role as The Doctor in BBC's amazing series, Doctor Who. In this show, David reveals and heavily uses his intelligence and quick-thinking to get out of dangerous situations!

David as The Vision would be quite the show, with David being able to channel his inner Doctor to portray the heroic A.I.! He'll have to be quick, smart and courageous to portray the Vision! Luckily, David is no stranger to any of these redeeming qualities.

[Side Note: Just imagine The Vision VS Daleks! I would pay ALL the money to see that!]

Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen! We've reached the end of this article! It was long, and perilous, but we finally made it through. I hope you've enjoyed my remolding of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if you want to give it a shot, please write an article and tell the world who you would have cast! Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and Marvel will hire you to reboot the Avengers for them in the future!
