So the main Australian movie theater website 'Event Cinemas' was the first place to list the runtime for Avengers: Age of Ultron. The runtime was listed as "160 minutes," which really impressed me and everyone else because the average Marvel movie is no where near that length. Well, just today I was checking out the website because I'm looking to go see a new movie this Friday and I had a quick look at Age of Ultron again when I noticed that Event Cinemas changed it to now say "170 Minutes." That equals to a massive 2 hours and 50 minutes!

To put it into perspective, here are some of the previous Marvel movies runtimes:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy - 122 Minutes
  • Iron Man 3 - 130 Minutes
  • Thor: The Dark World - 112 Minutes
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 136 Minutes
  • The Avengers - 143 Minutes

And now...

  • Avengers: Age of Ultron - 160-170 Minutes

Now... if this isn't a mistake, and it's just meant to be '160 Minutes,' then that is still great in my opinion. But, I am seriously hoping that this new Avengers movie will be 2 hours and 50 minutes long. I definitely feel like it needs to be that long to give every character a decent amount of screen time, and enough time to set up the origin stories for Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Ultron and a few other characters.

I'm not sure if they just changed it by accident, because a couple of other Australian movie theater chains such as HOYTS, still have it listed as 160 minutes.

I'm not sure why or how Event Cinemas would've done that, considering it already said 160, but apparently it's different now. Just to let you know if you aren't from Australia, these aren't just some random movie theater companies, these are the 2 largest movie theater companies in Australia, so they are reliable.

But also the IMDb page for Avengers: Age of Ultron says 160 minutes. For now, we are unsure of the actual and exact runtime, but we do know that the movie will be at least 2 hours and 40 minutes long. Most places are saying 160 minutes, and it seems like that may be the case, but lets hope that Event Cinemas is right in saying that it'll be 2 hours and 50 minutes instead!

If anything changes or any new information erupts, i'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as I can. Follow me if you would like to keep up with my info, otherwise, that's completely fine! I'd also love to hear your opinions and if anyone has any additional info to tell me. Please let me know.

Just thought I'd put this out there considering that most people on here aren't in Australia like I am, and probably wouldn't find out about this. I have not seen anyone else mention this either, Event Cinemas literally changed it today and when I saw it, I immediately thought to let everyone here know. Check out the movie theater sites for yourself, I put the links to the pages under the images, or you can click the website names. Whatever the run-time, it's going to be the longest Marvel movie yet!

AN UPDATE TO THIS POST!

Just as a little update, 4 days later, Event Cinemas still has it listed at 170 minutes and we are now able to order tickets, so that's a good sign.

I'm also aware that IMDb now has 150 minutes listed as the run time, so I'm not sure anymore. It seems every site is saying differently, so I'll just wait it out until we can really get a confirmation as to what it is. For now, i'm sticking with Event Cinemas and hoping that Event Cinemas is right.
