They are the cast of a long-running sitcom that is so highly rated and so popular it has been renewed through 2017.

Still, the cast of [The Big Bang Theory](series:200751) are, first and foremost, actors and the CBS comedy is not their only source of acting employment-thanks to their enormous popularity and talent.

Here is what they are doing or recently have been doing “on the side”:

Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) is set for a limited run on Broadway where he’ll star in the comedy, An Act of God. He also has lent his voice talents in the very soon to be released Dreamworks animated feature, Home.

Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hoffstadter) headlined The Master Cleanse, which is expected to be released soon. He also served as executive producer of the film (a fantasy/comedy indie feature), which was part of his Alcide Bava Production Company.

Galecki recently hired Andrew Haas as president of Alcide Bava in the hopes of stepping up production activity at the company.

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (Penny) is lending her vocal talents to the upcoming animated feature, Animal Crackers, alongside Sylvester Stallone and Sir Ian McKellen. The movie is due out next year.

She also appears in the upcoming indie drama, Burning Bodhi. The film is something of a departure for her as she largely does comedy. No word on a release date yet.

Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) appeared in the upcoming Chinese-English comedy feature, Hollywood Adventures. We’ll Never Have Paris, a romantic comedy in which Helberg wrote, directed, produced and acted (with Melanie Lynskey) was released earlier this year and is available on video streaming.

Kunal Nayyar (Raj Koothrappali) appears in the upcoming political thriller, Consumed. He is currently filming the English/Indian crime drama, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and is set to appear in the animated feature, A Bollywoof Tale which will be released next year.

Melissa Rauch (Bernadette Rostankowski Wolowitz) will be busy promoting her ultra-raunchy comedy, The Bronze, which is set for limited release this summer. She also appears in the upcoming comedy feature, The Dudes, and she recently voiced a role for the new season of the animated series, Sofia the First.

Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) doesn’t appear to have much on the horizon with regular side acting gigs but she is a regular columnist for Kveller.com where she gives out parenting advice and she is a popular guest speaker, author and advocate on a variety of issues.
