The last episode of Marvel's [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](series:722469) can only lead to one thing: Civil War!

How, you might ask. Well, the The Avengers: Age of Ultron will lay down the ground work for the third Captain America movie by giving us a preview of the potential friction between our two leads, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.

If Marvel Studios wanted to stay true to the comics and put Tony Stark at the helm of SHIELD in Civil War, they had to find a way to do that and that's where Agents of Shield will come into play. We have seen the tech Mack used to monitor Director Coulson and we've learned that Bobbi and Mack has a secret.

As the second season will progress, we will definitely learn more about it. And my guess is that, Tony Stark is using Bobbi and Mack to someday take over SHIELD. But who was the backup Bobbi and Mac talked about? I bet a million bucks that it's Maria Hill.

Maria Hill: Not jobless anymore.
Maria Hill: Not jobless anymore.

To those who are familiar with the comic book story, Maria Hill was interim Director of SHIELD and was working with Tony Stark in the enforcement of the Super Powers Registration Act. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we all know that Maria Hill left SHIELD and joined Stark Industries at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

But what will happen to Director Coulson? I guess he will stay with SHIELD and be the eyes and ears of Nick Fury as he help Captain America.

Coulson: I'm still your biggest fan.

Surely, Agents of Shield can overlap multiple plot lines together and they can definitely getaway with it. Just on the last episode alone, we have the following teasers:

  • Skye manifesting her power (The Inhumans)
  • A Kree tracking the diviners ([Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073))
  • Lady Sif visiting again (Thor)
  • and so on...

If Clark Gregg (the actor who plays Director Coulson) was considered as the "glue" that brought the Avengers together, then the T.V. series Marvel's Agent of Shield will surely become the "glue" that will bind the Marvel Cinematic Universe together.

There's another theory out there that Bobbi and Mack is secretly working for the U.S. government. I guess Talbot want's to takeover SHIELD, and along the way, he may entrust SHIELD to Tony Stark (who supports the Super Powers Registration Act) and in turn, appoints Maria Hill as the Interim Director.

What do you think guys?
