Action, thriller, sci-fi, superheroes, I love them all. And I love writing about them almost as much!

Age brings with it many things, most of all experience. The current cast of the Avengers is one of the best I've ever seen in a superhero film, but what if we delved a little bit younger? Here's the cast of the Avengers if they had met several years earlier.

Note: I will only be recasting the original Avengers lineup, as Age of Ultron has not yet been released and this is the only confirmed lineup that we are sure of.

Tony Stark/Iron Man - Taron Egerton

As soon as I saw Kingsman: The Secret Service, I knew there were big things on the horizon for lead Taron Egerton. Given his charming personality, I believe he could pull off a young, cocky Tony Stark. Portraying Tony when he is a young man would be difficult, but Egerton has the perfect combination of charming and hilarious.

Steve Rogers/Captain America - Zac Efron

Ok, I might get some heat for this. Zac Efron might not be the most accomplished actor, but then again, neither was Chris Evans before he became Captain America (see the Fantastic Four movies, he was basically a walking cliche). Efron has the rugged, all-American qualities that made Evans a good Captain America, and already has the physicality to play the role. After his more successful roles in Neighbors and The Lucky One, I think he could pull of a good Steve Rogers.

Thor - Liam Hemsworth

This one is a little more on the nose. Liam was actually up for the role, along with his brother Chris, but the elder Hemsworth won the role in the end. Liam Hemsworth would be a perfect younger version of Thor, as he and Chris already look alike and have almost identical builds. Liam's version of Thor could almost be a doppelgänger to Chris's version.

Bruce Banner/The Hulk - Miles Teller

Seeing as Miles Teller is playing Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four and has received acclaim for his acting chops in Whiplash, he could easily portray the calm, intelligent demeanor of a younger Bruce Banner, but also could convey the incredible strength that lies within in the form of the Hulk. He could also show the inner turmoil that Banner goes through on a daily basis in an effort to keep the Hulk at bay.

Natasha Romanov/Black Widow - Jennifer Lawrence

This might be the best casting choice on this list. Lawrence already portrayed a Marvel Comics assassin, Mystique, in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. For all intents and purposes, Mystique is essentially a superpowered version of Black Widow, with incredible hand-to-hand skills, expert marksmanship, and an assassin mentality. She could even play Black Widow with a mild Russian accent, showing her recent transition to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Clint Barton/Hawkeye - Logan Lerman

With Logan Lerman's recent performance as the young, untested tank soldier in Fury, he could definitely convey the strong silence of a young Hawkeye, just starting out as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Also, we already know he can bring the action, based on his portrayal of D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers and as Percy Jackson in the Olympian series.

So, there you have it, my casting choices for the younger Avengers. A group of actors who could bring the drama in the quiet scenes, the ferocity during the action, and the humor when it's time to lighten the situation.
