Who's Next?

After the mind blowing success of Marvel's surprise blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the announcement of eight more Marvel major pictures before 2020, a lot of people are probably wondering “What could possibly be left?”

It doesn't take a journey into mystery to know that Marvel Studios has brought a metaphorical truck load of our childhood favorites to life in a whole new way with their dominantly established cinematic universe, also known as the MCU, and even introducing some lesser known heroes to the populous with Guardians of the Galaxy. So who else does the MCU have left to pull out of their pocket?

Here's a few of what I think are the top contenders.

The Thunderbolts

A great parallel to DC's suicide squad, the Thunderbolts in almost every version of the team are villains either pretending, or being forced to play the part of the good guy. Despite the large number of incarnations of this team many of its most popular characters could fall into the licensing web that we recently saw Spider-Man crawl out of. However, even with Venom, Green Goblin, Deadpool, Lady Deathstrike and Juggernaut all already spoken for (and not by Disney/Marvel) in the movie rights department, there is still a large chance we will see this villain turned hero entourage with characters like Baron Zemo, Radioactive Man, Songbird, Mach, Luke Cage, Punisher, the Red Hulk (“Thunderbolt” Ross), Elektra and Victoria Hand (who has already laid some groundwork in the MCU on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). The Thunderbolts play a large roleI in the comic book rendition of Marvel's Civil War so there are a lot of clues pointing in this direction for a movie appearance. Personally I would love to see some 'justice... like lightning' on the silver screen.

Young Avengers

Another team that played a large role in the comic event Civil War, the Young Avengers are a relatively popular title that have yet to be addressed in the MCU and could be easily introduced under the large blanket of S.H.I.E.L.D training programs. Built mostly out of young versions of the core Avengers team, the Young Avengers are visually a cookie cutter copy of their well established counterparts, but bring to bare a completely different dynamic; these kids KNOW they are a team already, the problems they encounter are more directed towards coming of age and living up to the expectations set forth by them due to the uniforms they choose to wear... and obviously some bad
guys.

The New Warriors

Young, under appreciated and over publicized. Some of the most notable members of this team are Night Thrasher, a martial arts fighter and acrobat who uses nighsticks, Justice, a telekinetic, Darkhawk, who uses a flying suit of armor themed after... you got it a hawk, Firestar, a flying flame thrower, Speedball, who uses an odd sort of kinetic force field and Nova, who we will probably see introduced elsewhere (GotG 2?) in the MCU. In one the more recent versions of the team, the New Warriors unintentionally provoke the incident that sparks the infamous Marvel Civil War.

The Power Pack

Yes... I said it, and I can hear your groans already. For those of you unfamiliar with the Power Pack, this is a group of super powered small... very small, children that came (like a large portion of Marvel characters) from the pages of the Fantastic Four. I'm not saying this could be a major blockbuster, but Marvel after all is under the Disney flag, and we could very likely see (non MCU consistent) something along the lines of Big Hero 6 with this group.
