When it was announced that we are getting a brand new Pee-wee Herman movie with Judd Apatow producing AND Netflix distributing, I had a hard time containing my emotions. In fact, I'm pretty sure I went full Large Marge.

In the past, star Paul Reubens has elaborated on what the plot of Pee-wee's Big Holiday will entail, and fans of Pee-wee's Big Adventure will not be disappointed. Here's what we know of the new Pee-wee premise from the man in the bow tie, himself:

It’s a road-trip movie across the country. It’s very similar in style and tone to Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. But it’s not about a bicycle. I never really thought of Big Adventure as a family movie, but I didn’t try to make an adult movie or a kid movie. We wanted to make something that appealed to a wide age range, and I think that’s the case with this movie also.

Now, Reubens has posted the first photo of Pee-wee on his road trip into the twenty-first century. Prepare to be shocked...

...by just how little has changed. He's a loner, Dottie. A rebel. And by that, I mean he absolutely refuses to give in to normal human aging. Pee-wee looks EXACTLY the same.

With that said, as much as I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Pee-wee we know and love, I'm most excited for seeing him confront the present day. Considering the director, John Lee, has a background in truly hilarious TV like [Broad City](series:1225960) and [Inside Amy Schumer](series:1493686), I'm ready to see Pee-wee confronting the joys and perils of iPhones, social media, and binge-watching.

Jambi thanks for your time. Au revoir, Simone!
