This morning I went through my ritual of reading up on some of my favorite Marvel and DC characters, whilst I enjoyed my toast and tea. I stumbled upon this awesome picture of a cover from a Moon Knight comic which got me thinking for a bit about the possibilities of him actually appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The image provides a doorway for an introduction of the character into the MCU that will already have movies where his storyline could be teased.
What movies am I talking about?
Avengers: Age of Ultron (Spoilers Ahead!)
Picture for a second yourself in the cinemas watching the final battle scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron. You are probably recovering from the rumored death of one of the members when finally the battle begins. At the end of it all, Ultron meets his demise by the hands of Hulk, possibly enraged from Ultron getting Scarlet Witch to use her Hex powers to control him. This is probably how it will end:
Hulk then throws the head, with all his might as far as he can, and all of Ultron's robot minions would probably collapse to the ground. No longer a threat, the Avengers can rest easy knowing that it was a job well done. Then arrives the post credits scene where a man called Mr Hyde is talking to a figure who is hidden by shadows. This figure mentions his contact sent him to collect a package from Hyde, whilst this is going on we cut to a scene of a crescent moon in the sky, followed by a figure, clad in white armor, jumping from building to building, silently drawing closer to the two individuals.
Things go sour for Mr Hyde when the mysterious figure pulls out a gun and demands that Hyde hand over the package. Now the white figure, who we assume is a vigilante, drops down from the roof top amidst the action, and we see his cape form the shape of the moon that night. The two men are frightened, thinking this masked figure is a ghost. They turn and run for their lives leaving behind a box. The vigilante opens the box, to reveal the head of Ultron. He turns to see the two men still running in the distance then exclaims 'Why don't you run after them Khonshu? Yeah, I thought so!'. The scene ends with an applause, and perhaps a few Marvel fans spontaneously combusting.
Of course this would be an incredibly confusing situation for many, most of them wondering why? Call me crazy if you will, but this would be the most amazing ending to Age of Ultron for me. How so?
Captain America: Civil War
Well, the arrival of Captain America: Civil War could then tease Moon Knight again, perhaps with Tony Stark watching videos of the Cap in battle to study his weakness (classic Stark tactic), on his desk he has a bunch of superhuman registration forms filled out with those who are for the Act. Amongst the superhuman registration forms we see the heroes who will eventually appear in the MCU, including this:
These hint's can keep on building up towards his arrival in the film Defenders, wherein he stars alongside heroes such as the Hulk, Dr Strange, Spider-Man and Daredevil among others. To face off who? The Masters of Evil of course. Mr Hyde, is revealed to be a medical researcher who is struggling for money (explains his reasons for wanting to sell Ultron's head), develops a formula that gives him superhuman abilities, and for this he is recruited into their ranks. Moon Knight, who was trying to find out why Mr Hyde was trying to sell Ultron's head himself, becomes a member of the Defenders to help battle this new threat, when he discovers a familiar face amongst the ranks of the newly formed Masters of Evil (he is never in a hurry to team up).
Blows fly, and shots are fired, only to have Moon Knight leaving the team when they disagree with his violent methods. This is an awesome way to move into a solo Moon Knight film that can touch on his origins, and really show off his craziness. His relationship with the unseen Khonshu would add comical relief to a highly enjoyable story about how Moon Knight deals with all his persona's, and perhaps why he is so violent. I think it would also be awesome to see some werewolf action from Jack Russel in the movie.
The soonest we could expect to see this movie would be in Phase 5, which for all we know is probably another ten years away. Despite the long wait, if the scenarios I have given actually played out, I may end up being amongst those Marvel fans I mentioned, who would spontaneously combust.
